- Along with the release of the new website, we will be making hi-scores a members-only feature.

This is for a number of reasons, but the main one is to keep them fresh. We want the hiscores to feature players who will compete with each other, tooth and nail, for hiscore glory. There are many dormant accounts within the hiscores that have not played for a very long time, and this will give new arrivals in Gielinor a shot at hiscore fame alongside the grizzled veterans on equal terms for all.

We want the hiscores to reflect the full range of content that RuneScape has to offer, and hope that they will be a big draw to the full, members’ game for those interested in high-level RuneScape competition on a level playing field.
I feel sorry for Water/El Popo1 etc.

Yeah, I still have mixed feelings about this. I don't know whether its good or bad, but if it means my Defence rises in ranks, I'm all for it--though highly unlikely.

Also; Horrible update. Bot radiation support Jagex charity (BRSJ) > this.

Worst thing is the stupid P2Pers posting on forums saying all F2Pers should buy P2P. Forgetting that they were originally Non-members,

That even people who were say members for 5 years then became inactive (for whatever reason) will be removed from the highscores?


By stupid P2Pers I don't mean in general, I mean the people doing that particular thing.

I think it's a stupid update. If the main reason is that they want it to display the active players only, this could be accommodated by adding a filter option.

I kinda do see Jagex's point. Free-to-play is almost a trial of the game in some ways. I agree that highscores should only be for the people who pay for the game.

If it's a trial then wouldn't it make sense to make a level cap? F2P players can still get 126 combat, level 99 skills, and even 200M xp. It is in no means "a trial".

Exactly. If you run website and you have a game on it like runescape and you want people to pay for it why have things for f2p people? I understand that we where all f2p at once. But Jagex is a company in the end of the day. They are in the business to make money not to just show off how well they can code in java. Also the comment made about jagex trying to make the money they lost when bots where banned. That is so wrong you have no idea. Jagex loss money with bots because most of the people paying used either stolen accounts which jagex can NOT claim the money or it was cards of fraud (Credit card generators, false pay pal accounts etc) So for the comment to be made that this is their attempt at making money back after bots being going is 100% BULLSHIT. Look at the quarter 2 reports for Jagex as a company and you will see this. </off topic rant>

As for f2p being removed from high scores to put it harsh i don't care really. I'm p2p and i will allays be p2p so really anything that happens to f2p doesn't effect me or any member. This is why i agree with the comment that f2p is all but a trial of the game to show you how a few things work and to bait you to become a member. The only thing i don't care for is that f2p players will lost rank if they have a high rank. If anything that rank was harder to get and thus justifies the meaning behind their placement on high scores.
