Letter of Resignation
« on: September 28, 2012, 10:29:09 »
Dear Consentus.

After tonight, it shows...

People in this clan are not fond nor open to newer people.
That's fine. They don't want to clan to grow.
I cannot take this anymore.
I will not take part in a Clan that treats me as if I am the bottom of the feeding pit.
I attempt to be nice, and make friends, even spread my diva ways, but yet.. I am still treated in ways in which I can say make me feel very disrespected.

A comment was even made saying, "You've only been here like a day.", after confusing my new display name for a newer player. FYI; I have been a memeber of CTS for 4 months.
This was over a joke I said. (Just because we don't have the same sense of humor, leaves no grounds for you to be rude.)
This shows that Newer Members are targeted and "bullied" in some sort.
I am not for this.
We are all old enough and good enough people to not have to go through this.

Tonight was my last straw, and I am hereby presenting my Letter of Resignation, and cutting all the ties with Consentus as far as my membership in the clan goes.
I will remain clan less until I find a clan that accepts me and newer members.
Unlike this one.

Just a tip of advice if you guys really want this clan to thrive, be friendly.
Don't give the sarcastic "Welcome to Consentus" and then treat the newer people like dirt.
That's what you guys are doing as of now, and you are just shoo'ing people away.

An Ex-Member of Consentus, who's worried about the whether this clan will contiune to thrive,
Mas(s)on

You've been here since May. May - Sept is 4 months.

Goodbye hope you find a clan that 'welcome' newer members.

Bye, to earn respect, give respect.

There are hundreds of members in this clan, do you realise how hard it is to keep track of every name change that happens?

When you spoke down to me, I instantly jumped on you, assuming you were new and I'm sorry. Being spoken down to by somebody who doesn't even know you, when you've done nothing to them is not a nice thing at all. Even what you said was a complete misrepresentation of the person I am, and I was kind of angered, so I bit back.

Good luck finding a new clan.

I was not talking down to you.
It was not necessary to "bite" back , or for the others to jump in and make comments towards me.

Also, all I have done for the past 4 months was respect everyone in this clan.
Stating that, if I hadn't earned respect yet. Then, I was never going to earn it, obviously.

Well, that's your opinion and I respect it.
If you can't respect someone, don't expect it back. It's a two way street.

So I'm just expected to take shit and let people walk all over me?

maybe that is similiar to how you are feeling now.

feelings are tricky.

Wish you all the best.

Name changes ingame are hard to follow, sometimes you forget who they are and you don't realise who they actually are until somebody points it out. For example, Dan and Alex changed their usernames many times and I can never keep up ;P

I understand that people get confused with usernames.
That's not the point I am making.
Everyone thought I was a newer member, therefore...
I was "targeted" in some sense.
Just because I seem to be a "newer" member, doesn't mean you can speak to me in all kinds of ways.

Well, that's your opinion and I respect it.

So I'm just expected to take shit and let people walk all over me?

I'm not saying that. You just did not have to respond with such severity.
All that was needed to be said was "Oh, That's not me"
Instead, you decide to throw every ounce of passion behind one joke.
I'm not for that. These petty games being played are for the birds.
Seeing your high-rank, I would have expected you to handle the situation in a more... mature way.
Is it wrong of me to expect less? No.

maybe he felt that you were talking down to him.

Understandable. Also, this has nothing to do with those who constantly made an effort to take me in. Just those with the attitude of being better than others, and treating others as if they are, for lack of better words, nothing.

Jokes and sarcasm are pretty hard to tell on the internet, unfortunately. Especially when you are talking about someone like you did to me.

The clan is growing very rapidly, and can't expect everyone to know everyone.

It took me a while to get to know everyone in this clan, and at that time, it was considerably less people than at the moment. Recently, there have been many new additions to the clan, which is fantastic. I go in the clan chat and realise there is around 80% of people that I actually don't know.

Being active in the game sometimes doesn't make you well known in the clan, participating in events and joining in conversations does. Some conversations in the clan chat don't get very far because many who play this game love to afk at the same time. Posting on the forums goes further, and I say it does help in getting you known in the clan as many of the older members post here everyday.

I only got 'noticed' when I got a wee kick from Lilly to post on the forums more and engage in the clan chat more often. It was till around 5 months that a select number of members knew me. I was still considered new when I joined the forums in March, even though I joined the clan 3 months ish beforehand.

Newer members will probably see a different side to people, only because you can't just throw your personality at them instantly, you have to break them in slowly. For example, if I was my normal ways to a new member, it could make them feel uncomfortable :o

Very well, put.
It's just that.. This clan doesn't have the "family" feel to it like it's supposed to.

A smaller family will always be closer than a larger one.

We have lost a few members who were active and close to the clan. However, we have the new generation if you will that are coming up. I am sure the family feeling will be back in time once we the 'newborns' (my term for them ;D) engage with us a lot more in events, chat and on the forums. I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know some of them, only because they brought themselves forward everytime I saw them. Popsicle who just recently left I used to talk to via PM all the time when he was on.

There is no doubt that at the moment the family feel is not as it was before. You have to consider the vast amount of new recruits that have arrived. Some older members aren't as active now, probably because of school work, employment and such. The real way of engaging to the whole clan, mainly the older members are posting on the forums, as you always see the old members pop about here, even if they don't play as much ingame. You also get a chance to catch what events are coming up, and even manage some yourself which will always be brought forward, like your DOTW (love it).

Just wait till the new members can walk alone in this clan, it will be scary. I hope we get a couple more Gregs personally ;D
