Plastic dump or plastic farm?

(1/1)

Joe:
Adidas has been fighting a good fight for nearly 2 years now.  In the Pacific and North Atlantic oceans, sit some of the largest plastic waste heaps in the world.  Marine life suffers because of the chemical release in the water and by attempting to consume a material that is impossible to digest.  These "microplastics" such as the ones in our fancy face scrubs get washed right down the drain and into the oceans.  These are ingested by marine life and these same creatures are fished out and used as our food.  We're literally poisoning the food we eat before it's even caught.

Adidas is trying to fight this by "--taking material that pollutes the oceans and using it to create sportswear that’s every bit as good as that made from virgin plastic--."  A new level of sustainability unlike anything to date.  This is very likely a trend that will be picked up by other sportswear companies in the next several years.

Beccah:
That would be fantastic if they can use the GPGP for this. We need more solutions like this.
