RuneScape on Mobile – Coming Soon

RuneScape is coming to mobile in 2018 (https://www.runescape.com/info/mobile). That's right – RuneScape. The game you know and love, anywhere.

This is a mobile client for RuneScape – not a separate version of the game. The interfaces will be optimised for mobile, and there'll be persistent cross-platform play with the desktop version.

That means you'll log in with your existing account, continuing the adventures of the character you've spent so much time levelling. And of course, you can hop back onto the desktop client whenever you want.

Old School will hit mobile devices this winter, with RuneScape hot on its heels in 2018.

I'm not a too huge fan of this... Sure, it is quite good move for Jagex as a business. But this will lead to some people never, ever leaving runescape for a daily life. Also, playing rs on the mobile phone sounds kinda silly with the minimal screens... iPad I'm more understanding of

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I'm imagining that you swipe right on your screen in order to access your inventory, left to access armour and what not.

If you're using a phone that has buttons, perhaps 1-9 could be used for abilities?

That's looking real good! And you're right, if they combine that interface with gestures like swipe or double tap it could be pretty nice  :)

With the Osrs app launching first I wonder if it'll catch on and bring back loads of old players and be a success similar to pokemon go. Would be awesome to see some old faces log in.

I think it's a great idea!  I've often wished I could access it on my phone.  I'd love to see some of those old faces too.

I'm just concerned about battery and data drainage. If it was anything like the launch of pokemon go it just won't be worth it.

This would be amazing for my redundant skills. I could train away from a computer, and my boyfriend could even log on if he wanted to because he doesn't have a computer at the moment.

I wonder if the game will keep running if you switch apps like replying to a text.
Not too bothered about data usage as I have unlimited mobile data, and battery drainage isn't too much of an issue as I have two portable power packs anyway

I can imagine it will smash any data and battery life so portable chargers are the way forward I'm more concerned about talking it'll be pretty fiddly :p

Who even talks on RS3? Gross!

Na, but it'd be seriously cool if it could recognize speech and turn them into words for you, y'know, like siri? Although I have more chance of living until I'm 200 before that happens.
