SOS is a fantastic charity that - every year - does a huge amount of great work in Africa, funding the education and care of underprivileged children. “Our Africa” is a project that sees kids across Africa making videos about what life is like through their eyes. It’s a fascinating project from a great charity, and RuneScape’s Video Production Team jumped at the chance to offer our support. Through our YouTube channel, we're getting our video community involved too.

So, for every one of you who subscribes to the official RuneScape YouTube channel from now until Christmas, the video team will donate 10¢ to SOS.

To get involved, just subscribe to our YouTube channel. It won’t cost you a penny and, by doing so, you’ll contribute to SOS, as well as ensuring that you're the first to see all of our RuneScape videos. Buying Subs - That's a first?

It's all for a good cause though!

Complaining like this is just why the community is complete and utter shit.

So what if they're 'buying subs' by giving money to Africa.
You don't see high profile YouTube Scapers do that, they buy subs with RSGP, now that's something, why don't you go hate on that instead?

I think it's a good thing Jagex is doing this for African children, and it sickens me to see how the community react like this, and people said the RS community were one of the best within the gaming industry, pfft.

I will remain subbed, didn't sub just for this, I enjoy the videos they make.

they're a multi million dollar company to start off with, if they wanted to help, they quite easily could. To second that, they post this on their page with around 7 or 8 hours to go until Christmas day? Why that soon? I'm not trying to say what they're doing is wrong but what i'm saying is the way they've broadcasted it IS! I'd much rather see a news post saying this christmas, for everyone of you that logs on for the next few days we'll donate so much etcetc. Not them purchasing subs at the cost of African Children.

They're not raising that much.

With their 132K subs right now, that's about 13K dollars, and I am 100% sure they haven't gained more than 500 subs the past day, and that's what? 50 dollars extra?0

At the end of Christmas they're giving 10c for every sub, and with their 'bought' subs, that's 50 Dollars extra to the pot.

No, they're donating 10c for EVERY sub they have at the end of Christmas, so it'll be over 13K pounds, but only 50ish of those will be from 'recent subs' that you guys call 'bought subs'

From the article, it seems like they mean subs they get from the time the article was published to now, so it probably will only be like $50 if they're lucky
If they mean total subs, that is a very generous donation
