Bots and Cheaters Banned

A new year has dawned and 2012 fades into the past, however our resolve against botters and those who would use exploits to gain an unfair advantage over others has never wavered.

As part of our ongoing war on botting, we continue to take action against those confirmed to be using a bot script. Just yesterday we banned a large number of bot users, including a number of maximum level players.

We want to reconfirm our commitment to the RuneScape community that we are taking steps every day to rid RuneScape of any and all bots. Nobody is exempt from this, whether it’s a fresh account or a paying maxed-out player.

We also detected a small number of players who had engineered an exploit to abuse the God Statues content which was added yesterday. In addition to adding extra security to our code, we’ve permanently banned the accounts which took part and all other accounts associated with those users. Such exploitation is totally unacceptable and we have a zero tolerance policy against any such behaviour. Ultimately those who use bot scripts and abuse exploits are harmful toward the economy of RuneScape, and are not the type of individuals that we want as part of our community.

As much as I am glad that they are still working on this, we are a long way from "there will be no way to boy in RS" which is essentially what they were saying last year. Now we are back to continued war.

I hope they keep it up and get themselves one step ahead of the bots.

yes that too.

I just realised I said no boy in Runescape. That would be a much better improvement than no bots! I just found my new mission in life! :P

If they did miss-ban people, they would have been un-banned and give a few rune coins by now.

That's not even remotely true. Any problems that Jagex has to handle on an individual basis could take weeks.

My account wasn't even able to train Thieving for 21 days before Jagex could fix anything for me.

My hacked friend's account took like 8-10 days to unlock for her again.

^^^^^^

people get wrongly banned all the time. Jagex say on the forums they won't re evaluate bans if people get banned for botting cause over 60% of the time the ban is legit. I think they are too confident in this new bot watch to even look into it. posting on rsof is hopeless because they have some form reply they just copy and paste to everyone asking about help with a banned account.
