NXT - Extreme Load Issues

Hey 'Scapers,

While most of you are enjoying NXT, we're aware of some players experiencing issues when trying to launch the NXT Client.

Currently we're under extreme load from our Content servers which the Client uses to connect to download the data which gives you an optimal game experience.

If you're not successfully reaching the login screen on the NXT Client we suggest restarting the Client as it should only take a few minutes to get that far.

As it stands we're hoping the load decreases as the day goes on for the meantime you can of course continue to play in the world of Gielinor in the Java Client as you pre-load the NXT Client.

We apologise for the disruption to your NXT launch experience and we're doing everything we can to help mitigate this.

Aren't the problems coming from the uncomplete cache download (Due to 'server stress'?) and people just logging in unaware that it's needed at 100% to avoid the buggy McBugs they're experiencing?

I've had no problem with glitches, visuals or any type of bug ATM.

A few bugs I've experienced:
  • Client randomly freezing and crashing
  • Invisible surroundings upon login for like a minute (shouldn't take that long to render the assets from cache, especially not on an SSD)
  • vsyncing not immediately possible
  • Incorrect brightness, lighting & contrasts (especially notable to me in min graphics with no textures).
  • The lighting graphic toggle appears to have no notable effect (I can't tell a difference between e.g. min & ultra)
  • Random flickering, sometimes the entire client window turning misty blue for a second
  • Grouping system not working, not sure if this is related to NXT or not, but I can't tele group for example, can't see when people join my group either
  • NPC/player sight distance seems shorter in wilderness in NXT than in Java, haven't actually checked this for sure though

Also, like 50% of the posts on /r/runescape are about NXT issues :P

:( That's a shame .. Nothing too game breaking though? Shame some problems still exist.

I bet half of them are reposts of other bug reports mentioned on Reddit lol :P

Yeah, out of those only the freezing/crashing is a real problem, which happened to me 3 times during a 30 minute session last night. The wilderness distance, unless I am wrong, provides a significant disadvantage during warbands. I wish the lighting would be fixed to have a similar effect as on java (some places are too dark for me atm). I also wish they would add a toggle for the fog. Additionally, some animations are a bit clunky/mismatched (see e.g. automatons respawning in caches) or have too protruding special effects (e.g. combat)
