Well of Goodwill Opens 1st November with New Charities

Donate to your choice of three great charities as the Well of Goodwill reopens!

From 1st November until 30th November, you'll be able to donate coins, items and Bonds (http://www.runescape.com/bonds) into the well, just south of Varrock's Grand Exchange.

It needn't cost you a penny of your real-world cash, and there are two new titles to pick up: the Millionaire and the Billionaire.

Just click the well, decide how much you want to give, and which charity you'd like the donation to go to. You can even split it across more than one, if you like.

This year we're digging deeper - giving US$1 for every 5 million coins - and as before we'll donate US$4.70 for every Bond that you throw in.

With three awesome charities on offer this time around, it's money well spent:

AbleGamers
AbleGamers (http://www.ablegamers.com/) empowers children, adults, and veterans with disabilities to achieve a greater quality of life through the power of video games.

When your mind is able, but your body isn't willing, video games provide the ultimate level playing field because in games, those with disabilities can run, jump, and soar, just like everyone else.

AbleGamers enables gamers with disabilities to play video games by providing grants of expensive, custom-built assistive technology.

DonateGames
DonateGames (http://donategames.org/) is a charitable organization that leverages video games, technology and innovation to help children and families suffering from cancer.

Founded in 2007, DonateGames was started by entrepreneur Jim Carol after witnessing the impact video games had on his son Taylor while receiving treatment during a 5 year battle with leukemia at age 11.

A trusted nonprofit in the video game industry, DonateGames is a new breed of charity that unites a philanthropic purpose with high growth, technology driven business models providing gamers with a vehicle to change the world for children with cancer.

YoungMinds
YoungMinds (http://www.youngminds.org.uk/) is a unique charity committed to improving the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.

It's far more common than you might think- nearly a million children and young people in the UK have a mental health condition. People often find it difficult to talk about mental health because of the attached stigma, but no one should suffer alone.

YoungMinds campaign vigorously to raise awareness of young peoples' mental health and to address this stigma. Their website provides anyone, anywhere, with a trustworthy source of online information about mental health, and they also run a vital Parents' Helpline, as well as training for teachers and professionals.

Young people are at the centre of everything YoungMinds does; our youth engagement programme YoungMinds Vs (http://www.youngmindsvs.org.uk/) is powered by thousands of young people who are asking for change and raising awareness in their communities and online.

Make a difference and help us to improve mental health and get young peoples' voices heard!

Give Generously
However much you give, whether it's with in-game wealth or through buying Bonds, you'll be helping our chosen charities with their incredible work.

To say thanks, there are five titles for you to pick up:
Note that these titles will automatically be unlocked if you've donated enough in previous Well of Goodwill appeals.
Looking for more ways to give? Three charity tunics will be available from Solomon's Store throughout November.

All proceeds go straight to charity, and they're a great way to spread the word in-game.

Community Events
The Community Team are holding prize draws for anyone who donates 500,000 gold's worth of wealth or more in each week of November. The more you donate, the better your chance to win.

There'll also be milestone celebration parties, with the chance to win more prizes if you attend.

Thank You!
Last time you raised a mighty $90,000, and we know you can smash that total this time. Give generously!

Ofc it helps people, but why should we get something back for donating x amount? That is not what charity is and the title will be so elitist when it looks so wank

I guess it's a bit like when you sponsor a tiger instead of just giving WWF some money. Giving something back creates a transaction which makes people comfortable.

I've had certificates and the occasional award for the volunteering I do. That's not why I do it (scouting is awesome and not a chore/ helping people makes you feel good) but it's nice to get a thank you for giving up my evenings sometimes. Maybe this is kinda the same?

:)

Why do you disagree Lilly?

I think it is an effort to try and make them look as if they do care for the community but in reality they dont and wouldnt put their own money in to the game to improve things.

they are using their own money to give to the charities. It's not like they're going to give these various charities a few 100b of RS Gp.

They donate 1 dollar for each 10m gp donated, and the economy is fucked so that is pocketchange for most..
Do you even read what they say

1 dollar per 5mgp

the high level and elitist community is so hell-bent on titles and what not that putting it at 5b is perfect, those really desperate would be donating $1000 towards these charities.  I think its a great way to both try and save the economy and take advantage of the community to benefit others

Why is it even in dollars?

Are they trying to get money out of the game?

Removing money from the game is good and giving money to charity is even better, even though their intentions may not be based on the charity or whatever they still are giving money to charity so it's good in my opinion.

Apparently it's possible to donate a lot if you play 07 by converting the 07 to rs3, I think the number was something like, the equiv of $1 on 07 is ~$4.50 on RS3.  (idk exactly)

Which is probably an oversight.

Probably better to just sell gp on the black market and donate it yourself lol (not that I recommend it >.>)

Or what Meg said
