They're probably lying about the MTXs - if they were honest, there would be riots.

 JMOD JD:
As we mentioned beforehand, it's very early stages yet; so to be definitive is difficult at this point.
We will hopefully know more in April.

so yeah it was bullshit said to hopefully calm people down :/

Taking over a business takes time.

It doesn't happen overnight. It can be a long process.

If
it happens. The price requested of the mining company is very... hefty.

Hey guys,

You may remember that back in March, Jagex received great attention from the Chinese market with reports of an offer of interest in acquiring us. After the necessary period of due diligence, that offer has come to fruition and Jagex has been acquired by Chinese investors.

So what does this mean for the games and for you as a player? Well, to be honest, things are going to stay the same!

The investors like what we’re doing and want us to keep doing it – delivering great games and making them bigger and better than ever before. RuneScape is fighting fit and continues to attract new players, Old School RuneScape is more popular than ever and making a real mark in the world of games with stuff like Deadman Mode, while our Chronicle: RuneScape Legends is off to an awesome start.

Our games will continue to be operated by the existing teams and so, for us, it’s very much business as usual.

This is a huge year for RuneScape and you guys – our amazing community. It’s been a 15 year adventure with you all, and we’re looking forward to continuing with our new backers! This year alone has seen some incredible successes for the RuneScape family of games; RuneScape has introduced NXT and a whole new continent will be released very soon, Old School has seen incredible success with Deadman, and Chronicle has had a wonderful launch and has just released a whole new legend - Morvran! We're also looking forward to the forthcoming RuneScape: Idle Adventures, created in partnership with Hyper Hippo, the developers of cult hit Adventure Capitalist.

All in all, the future looks bright for Jagex, and all of the games that you love to play.

Yeah I saw they had changed the board members. At this time they've like for like replaced the previous investors on the board. So it could be that they are simply going to continue with Runescape as it was before.

Though it was the venture capitalists who added what we have now as microtransactions and the Chinese are used to a far more advanced form of microtransactions. I think that's the largest concern, but I doubt we'll see much change from them for at least the initial year.

We shall see how it goes! This could lead to far better updates though, especially if the new company intends to launch Runescape in China which is a market they've struggled to enter. If that's the case, they'll have the demands of Chinese players to develop the game. The most hopeful is a full client based game like other MMOs out there where the world is immersive and far larger than the one we have now.
