"Improvements"... If you think the chat filter was bad when chatting in english, imagine what it was like in foreign languages when it censors completely random words such as the swedish word for "good". They better have some language detection for this update

The Twitter and Reddit comments make for an interesting read...

While I understand why doing this, but this is still taking away from free speech. This might help some people that make a huge deal over it. But in the bigger number of things it will cause backlash, and slander towards Jagex. (not by me, but the masses of RS players)

The only thing you succeeded in doing is taking the player agency away. I am way more disturbed by some corporation censoring free speech to "protect me" than seeing some slurs ingame.

What happened to freedom of speech is that not practiced over there in england?

Its all good but Jagex going hard on this PR stunt can not change the fact that Jagex has never ever had a single person of colour represented as a JMod socially or in the front lines at a significant role eg content developer or even at Runefest. So its all word play for PR stunts as far as all these announcements are concerned.

I for one welcome regressive steps backward.

What's wrong with these people?

Yeah the chat filters are really annoying in other languages. Jagex ain't the best in detecting other languages. Often I get send to the German Runescape website, because they think Dutch is the same as Deutsch (it isn't).

Better than being send to the French website because they think everyone in Belgium is French  XD
