The Legacy Mode Beta is now open, for free players and members alike.

Log into the combat beta and import your live-game save in the lobby.

Note that you can re-import your live-game save from the lobby whenever you wish. However, any game progress made in the beta is not reflected in the live game.

Legacy Mode

Once you're in the game, you'll be offered the opportunity to switch your combat mode to Legacy.

Do so, and you'll activate the following features - aimed at replicating the look and feel of traditional RuneScape combat:

No abilities, with auto-attack damage scaled up.
Pre-RuneScape 3 interfaces - resizeable and fixed.
Old-style minimap icons.
A maximum-possible life point value of 990.
If you wish to switch between modes later, you can do so through the Combat Settings or Game Settings interfaces.

Global Updates

We've also put together a batch of changes to improve combat for everyone - introducing some of your most-requested features, while addressing some long-standing balance issues with EoC.

You can try these out in the beta today:

An updated version of the 138 combat formula, with equal contribution from melee, ranged and magic.
Special attacks on weapons.
Strength bonuses have replaced critical hit chance.
Ability damage has been fine-tuned to address some long-term imbalances. Damage output potential remains the same, but weaker abilities have been improved and overpowered abilities toned down.
More life points come from stats than from armour, and combat triangle penalties and bonuses are slightly relaxed.

Honestly, I don't get it.  Everyone seems to hate the EOC combat system so much.

This is worse than the time I was hired to be a clown at some kid's birthday party...

I honestly don't see why they would give in to the request of people that quit the game 1 and a half year ago because they "hated" eoc without even trying it. Click and wait for monsters to die is boring, that's what Legacy is, idk why people want it back.
I don't mind it back, but I'm not gonna use it, it won't benefit me in any way.

Legacy is fine, im not gonna ask for '11scape.

Alright i've played through it a little bit. So imma try to give my thoughts on it.

I knew that Legacy was coming when EOC came out, it was only a matter of time. I do like the fact that they are letting people choose which mode they want, if you like old combat, go Legacy. If you like EOC combat, do EOC combat. That's listening to the players.

Let's make a list of the Pro's and Con's in my opinion to get a full view of what I think about the Beta.

Pros

- Interface is must less confusing for a new player. The only 2 interfaces to have multiple things attached to them are Quests/Tasks (to be expected with the implication of Daily Challenges) and Settings (another thing that's kinda self explanatory). I think this will attract new players to the game.

- Legacy and EOC are interchangeable. At least they're not making a separate client or whatnot, just for Legacy. And it's not like you don't have a choice, like EOC made it so.

Some Cons (of beta/legacy)

- Beta is so fkn laggy. That's obviously going to hopefully be fixed since it is the first day, so I'm not really too worried about it.
 
- Xp is still for killing the enemy. Again, not really a big deal for me in particular, since I can just go to 07 for the xp/hit, but if it was really gonna be "pre-EOC", they probably would've changed that.

- Biggest con for me: PROTECT PRAYERS DO NOT PROTECT 100. In my honest opinion, all non-boss/non-quest monster shouldn't hit through prayer. I guess again i'll go to 07 for this but w/e


So all in all, Legacy mode might get me into playing Rs3 again, probably turning Warm Drake into a pure or something, i don't really know yet. But I do have to say I quite enjoy the Legacy mode. To each their own, but I'll be playing Legacy as well as oldschool, both I like.

I enjoyed what little I played yesterday but they need to sort item requirements out so I can PK on my pure

The only thing I hate, is that we get Legacy only and EOC only worlds. Which means the small community gets split up AGAIN! We just get less and less people in worlds, which can be boring at some times..

Ye i'd rather just have Legacy-only pking worlds, just keep legacy/rs3 people together outside of the Wildy. (Even though Legacy mode will bring back legit pking)

That's really not "legit" though, it's pretty much just rushing.

Idc about the combat changes, I liked the old way better, but eoc is easy too. I just can't wait for this older interface to get in rs again.
