When Are Your Gains "Good Enough"?
« on: February 17, 2020, 11:22:32 »
I feel like the title is simple and self explanatory.

When are your gains (exp or gp) "good enough"?

Do you have a certain goal you set out for every day?

Do you just take it easy, and any progress is good progress?

When are your gains "good enough"?

For me, I feel like there is no "good enough'.

If I set a goal for the day, I'm slightly satisfied if I complete it, but I only feel like I've done "okay" if I at least complete twice my goal for the day.

And each day, my progress resets.

So, lets say on Monday my goal is to earn 10M GP. Let's say I earn 20M GP and I'm happy with it.

Tuesday rolls around, and my goal is 10M. I only earn 8M. I feel like I'm not going to reach my goal, even though I went over 100% completion the day before.

Strange, hah.

I used to play RS competitively with macro efficiency. It was better to play smart than doing skilling efficiently (primarily utilizing all time blocked content such dailies, D&Ds and events). Setting daily progress goals helped me keep motivation up, but sticking to a plan was imperative. I was probably 2000 hours ahead of #2 skiller when they introduced pay2win. Since then I gradually stopped caring, and progress towards anything in the game isn't really something that appeals to me anymore other than being novelty. I will for sure max new skills, but not because I work hard for it or even try; the game simply allows me to get there by logging in every day.

I set myself goals, then due to personal issues I have zero motivation to actively try to pursue them.

Right now I wanna get 120 thieving. What am I doing instead? Clicking a brazier every 3 minutes burning protean logs because I have no energy to think about anything more click intensive than that.

I grind for certain things like quest reqs, etc. but I am a firm believer in having fun. I would rather have a good time than good gains.

For me it's simple, if it's not fun then what's the point. If you want something bad enough then surely you will find yourself having fun along the way. I have never cared for efficiency or for hitting certain targets. Sometimes I'll set a goal for motivation but 99/100 times I'll end up doing other fun things instead.

I used to be pretty religious on dailies, efficiency all that good stuff, i think my main acc has like 1.5b xp or something..
At the moment i afk pretty hard and play long hours, but usually while doing rl stuff and just click every 5 mins lol.

Once i get all the stuff i need to pvm again I usually try make 10/20m a day, using runemertics to keep track. It's not too hard to do once you get the levels and quests and it adds up fast. Like 600m a month if you do 20m a day which takes a few hours with decent methods.

I know I haven’t been in the clan very long, but I’ve already learned some pretty valuable lessons. The biggest lesson being: The way runescape works, you can literally do anything you want. You can get to 99 woodcutting and stay level 1 in your combats just because you feel like cutting trees. This is our world. So there’s no rush, unless I want there to be a rush. Easy does it. I can do WHATEVER I want. I don’t need to compare myself to other players unless that’s how I want to play the game.

Stopped caring a while ago. Exp Is pretty worthless these days, it's just been made far too easy on RS3
