Situation
Most of us remember that RS3 used to be the game we all played at one point(just as RS2), and I'm sure you all remember the lovely microtransactions that we quit over(well for me this was the final straw).
Basically the RS3 devs are trying to seriously screw over what is left of their community. The entire year so far has been nothing but MTX promotions with one update that was going to be the crowning jewel of their game, which by the way flopped so hard that many players refuse to use it. So an entire 8 months of RS3 has been nothing but MTX.

The Problem
The next major update that RS3 will get is a Mining and Smithing rework. It will make it so ores will be on scale for which combat levels it requires. So 40 smithing/mining = rune smithing/mining with higher tiered ores being thrown into the game for tiers 60 and up. Which is balanced for them because they have items that require attack level 90+ in the game right now.
However, the RS3 Jmods are trying to make an excuse to only half do the update(EOC all over again). They want to only add in the higher tiered stuff and then try to release the new leveling system in a "batch 2" later on. The last time Jagex promised a batch 2, it never happened. In fact, the new skill that was released, Invention, was supposed to have this batch 2 that would allow more leveling options above level 99. Never happened.

Oh wait! There is more!
So there is a poll that will hit RS3 that is similar to ours. Normally it follows the system we have in OSRS, a 75% passing rate. HOWEVER, RS3 Jmods are making ONLY this Mining and Smithing rework poll to require a 50% passing rate to get it to pass.
If you vote yes, they will just add higher tiered ores without rebalancing drop tables, smithing leveled items(Rune would still be at 90 smithing even with the new higher tiered ores added to the game, not 40 like it should be), or adjusting the high alch values of smithables.

If you vote no, you force the RS3 Jmods to give a full, complete update even if it takes a longer time.
There is way more information on the situation at hand on the r/runescape subreddit, but plenty of people are asking for help from us to go and vote no on this poll which I can understand. A 50% vote ratio is ridiculous when all previous polls in RS3 were just like ours set at 75%. It just seems like they are making excuses(anyone remember when they polled EOC and pretty much all but 1 option they counted as people in favor of EOC?).

Since we got OSRS and all the stuff we enjoy today because of votes from them, I'm willing to jump over and vote no on this ridiculous shit. Looks like they want to do another EOC with this rework.

I agree and cannot stress enough how important voting no is for the games overall health moving forward.

I too see the importance of voting no on this subject. I'd much rather see them rework the skills from the base and do it properly, than just throw in some added tiers, ignoring the fact what it does to the rest of the game... No no Jagex, no lazyscape for you.

I'm definitely voting no. Still annoyed at the fact of how Invention was implemented. Why include another update similar to how that one was implemented when the previous hadn't even been finished itself? I really hope they just end up waiting.

Not even sure why they are remaking the skills... Smithing tier 90 armour would just be a big waste, only thing this will do is help out grindy ironmen who's too lazy to boss for a couple hours for some gear xd

Voting no on all my accounts
And @Only Lilly knows how many that is :)

Personally I'd rather see them put efforts into making new skills than trying to bring mining/smithing up to par, but maybe that's just the almost 200m XP in me that's speaking. Admittedly, I haven't really read up on the design documents much, but for the skill to actually be useful, it needs to offer something unique across the board, and that only being lvl 92 items and plain lvl 99 recipes with unannounced effects isn't enough for me. The mastery points should involve unique perks in my opinion, in similarity to invention, rather than saturating the market with a chance at making multiple items. The unique perks could be RNG, time/skill based or a combination thereof.

Consider you make e.g. a rune 2h sword. You keep working on this item (think e.g. artisans workshop) with your masterwork ability and new ores from the mining rework, it adds new perks to the item, e.g. 10% higher accuracy against someone wearing rune armour. Once you have a desired perk, you can continue to work on the item, calibrating its perk and improving it over time as you're hammering away on the sword. There could be an exponential scaling, and if you wanted to, you could spend e.g. 1000 hours on this item alone, making it much better than an item that was never worked on; something truly unique and valuable.

It's not balancing a skill when the fruits of its content is locked to lvl 99, and additionally, plain content is devalued over time (ie all these currently planned masterwork items).

Kinda feeling that I'd be happy for a reason to not play runescape anymore as this is what it is coming to... It's not a game anymore, not meant to be fun, it has just turned into a way for a company to make as much money as possible. So if runescape was to disappear at some point... I'd kinda be fine with it, despite all the years I've put into it.

There always OSRS as a option ;)

But nah, doesn't surprise me Jagex are half arsed to do anything, especially considering most of the community management Jmods are jokes anyway's who are clueless about what they are doing. At least OSRS and RS3 united to vote no in the poll.

I have tried OSRS actually :P But it just doesn't seem to "click" for me for some reason, even though I played it all the time before the time of EOC and RS3 @Hell Naw Man
