The Balance in Runescape (PvM, PvP, Skilling)
« on: March 27, 2015, 09:16:43 »
There are basicly 3 type of players.

1. PvM'ers
2. PvP'ers
3. Skillers

But how balanced are those 3 types compared to eachother ?
In this post i'm going to find out and discuss the various subjects to find out how balanced runescape 3 truly is. Think of subjects like Updates/ Money Making/ Overal Fun/ Xp-Rates.

Updates to the Game.

In the last couple of years Runescape got alot of game changing updates. From a new combat system to a completely new interface, and everything in between.

But how balanced have those update been towards the 3 player types (PvM, PvP and Skillers)? An easy answer would be unbalanced, but why is this ?
If you would look at all the updates from the last 5 years or so you would notice a lot of big PvM updates and High level updates, (Nex, Vorago, Kalphite King, Prifddinas etc) and a few skiller updates (Divination, Warbands). But not really any big PvP updates, the last big PvP update was the return of the wilderness. This looks really unbalanced right ? Well it isn't.

The reason that there are more PvM and High level updates is simply because those are the biggest group of players in Runescape 3. So it only seems fair that the biggest group of players get's the most updates. And with no one doing PvP (maybe the reason is because they don't get updates) and with skillers basicly getting the best update they ever wanted with the addition of Warbands it only seems fair that most is aimed towards the bigges group of people.

So, personaly I hope that they adjust skilling in general to make it a better overal experience instead of being anoyingly click intensive and slow (looking at you agility) or afk (mining, fishing, woodcutting etc) because if a skill requires you to not play the game while playing the game there is something wrong. And I don't think we'll ever see tier 99 weapons and armor (that would be op).

Maybe someday I have my dream skill and can become a sailor.

Money Making

Well this is an easy one, PvM is by far the best money making way in game. With Queen Black Dragon and Frost Dragons can easily get you over 3.5m gp per hour. And with the higher level bosses you can make even more. I agree it's a bit of a shame but it's not strange. But skills can actualy make you some money as well with divination even getting around 1m gp per hour (still not as good as PvM but it's something)

Well atleast we have the memories from old runecrafting where 1-99 with nature runes could buy you a party hat.
