Statement on yesterday's bug

Hey everyone,

After we launched yesterday's game update we ran into an issue that affected players who had a luck ring active when doing certain bits of content in the game.

Sadly, the issue revolved around the randoms we use for determining your drop being rolled twice thus increasing the amount of uniques from the content.

To clear up a few things, here's what the content itself affected
  • Nex only and not AoD
  • Kalphite King
  • Rare drop table
  • GWD1 (but not GWD2)
  • Wildywyrm
  • Corp Beast
It did not affect any other content apart from that, as the issue was centered around script in those pieces of content.

We hotfixed this yesterday after a short period of time and have since been investigating if the items that came into the game had any impact on the longevity of them, we're not going to be doing any rollback or taking action on accounts, rollbacks should be an absolute last resort, and the influx wasn’t enough to remove progress from tens of thousands of players. While detection of bug abuse in this case is difficult, however, we will take action against those that we are 100% confident abused this bug knowingly and with an intent to profit.

Also, the values of items are largely returning to previous values, showing that the influx was regrettable but not a lasting issue.

At this time, we can't determine if players have maliciously exploited this or not, as this issue has come up from general gameplay.

We'll be keeping an eye on this post and anything else that comes up throughout the week, we'd like to apologise for the issue coming up in the first place, however we're confident that no long term damage has been done, I would also like to thank those who reported the bug and brought it to our attention.
