I've been looking back over my years playing, because I'm old I've got a long history on Runetrack. So I've been wondering whether it's me playing more efficiently or is Runescape and exp in general, easier to obtain? I mean warbands, sinkholes and DG daily challenge are all easy exp every day, especially at higher levels. Was this my initial grind to higher levers?

From January 1st - December 31st
2011: 64,993,809 - 177 levels gained
2012: 53,922,188 - 141 levels gained
2013: 145,735,616 - 134 levels gained
2014: 177,207,481 - 19 levels gained as of 6th October

Is anyone else's history different or am I infact playing more now?

Exp is clearly faster now, you didn't won bonus exp daily from treasure hunter back then, you didn't had divine locations, you didn't had the d&d's that provide lots of exp daily, new and faster training methods are always being introduced (do you remember when you had to mine on granite and how click intensive it was? now you can semi-afk gold deposites and still get higher exp/h rates).
I play much less nowadays than I did a few years ago and am actually getting more exp and levels compared to when I played more.

Well yeah it has, but I don't try to compete for ranks anymore, I just play for fun and my own enjoyment now.

Yes, it's easier now than it was several years ago. But is it easier for only you? No. It's easier for you & everyone else, so there's no noticable change

Jagex need to keep updating the game in every single category, or people would start getting sick of the game and leave it.

Ask yourself is Runescape better 5 years ago or now? I don't deny that we've lost some interesting things in the game (pking for me) but the truth remains that Runescape is better now.

I think they have given lots of quick and easy xp to keep the younger players interested.

made me laugh how people complained how slow and boring divination was, and yet I think thats how skills should be.  Put effort into them.

RS has turned into a game where you can cheat without cheating if you get what I mean?  Since Jagex has allowed multi logging and transferring enabling high level / rich players free rain to do whatever they choose.

It is easier but it depends on how much effort you want to put into the game. I found that I actually prefer slower methods to certain skills like runecrafting. I'd rather run nats then do runespan as it is what I find more enjoyable

It's got to be Rs getting easier, but like Red said the exp gains are harder to keep up with.  mean I can barely play a day and get 1m+ exp.. I remember when that was considered a good day lol.

Yes. Definitely.
I have gained 500 levels since June when I recently started playing again.
I'm about 1550 total level now.
