Possible change to the combat formula
« on: January 25, 2014, 23:59:39 »
A vote to probe opinions about the combat formula is currently being held on the combat beta forums:
http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/forums.ws?360,361,657,65276670

The fact that they have recognized the displeasure about the current formula and are unofficially gathering support for a change, suggest that they are actually considering to adjust the formula. If they change the formula, I don't believe they will revert back to the old one, but I do believe that prayer and constitution will be included. What do you think? Those of you who are skillers and trained hp and pray, what will you do if they affect combat again?

Probably quit, I don't enjoy combat in the slightest, Soul Wars is dead anyway. :|

I regret training prayer and hitpoints ever since the new formula came out. I wanted to compete with the other skillers in terms of total levels, the only real reason why I trained the two.

If they went back to the old formula, I wouldn't know how 1 defense pures and zerkers fair in EoC. Are they better or worse?

07 ftw.

I don't have hp/prayer on this account so doesn't affect me. If I was still a skiller on Space then I don't know what I would of done, good thing I don't have to make a choice.

Would be good if it happends because then I don't have to do Soul Wars for Constitution and as they said we can get a reset, so Prayer would be resetted for me if it happends so I think it'll be good. Also back to cmb 3 instead of cmb 4. (:

They will allow skill resets.

Good to see skillers are being taken in to consideration :)

And I agree, the combat formula definitely needs a change, seems silly that someone with 99 def and just one other combat 99 would be the same level as somebody maxed in all styles. Although I do think combat levels should be distributed evenly between all styles rather than like 12 levels for 99 prayer and summoning and 22 for hp 24 for def etc. or however they're calculated

If they offer resets of pray/hp to those who have it trained, I don't have a problem with this suggestion, however if they don't. I guess I'd just quit for good.

I wouldn't rely on sanctioned resets – it's simply too controversial. Below follows two predicaments that resets would imply:
1) Compromised account progress, such as quests completed and implicated rewards.
2) An influx of requests to reset not only hp and prayer.

This.

I did prefer the 138 cb formula over the 200 cb formula though anyway.

Problem with resetting is that it affects those with combat who get hacked (If players can reset themselves.

Jagex would have to reset manually or introduce a way to ensure only the original owner resets the account.
