On this day, March 18th, 2002, Jagex released the Wave elemental spells and the all now Blood Rune. These spells were extremely powerful during their time and I personally remember being obliterated by them in Fist of Guthix, Soul Wars, Clan Wars, and Sacred Clay. They also released the Black Unicorn into the game. During the Trade and wilderness restrictions I personally camped black unicorns to make money for my first ever whip due to selling the horns.

On this day, March 19th, 2018, Jagex released a patch notes which updated the skybox used in Beneath Cursed Tides. They also changed it so receiving a clue from opening a casket would bypass the 25 scroll limit.

On this day, March 20th, 2007, Jagex released access to Dorgeshuun-Kaan. With access to this area came a lot of content still very relevant in oldschool Runescape. Some of the content was a level 70 agility course, crafting lightorbs at 87 crafting, repairing lightorbs at 52 firemaking, Molanisk at 39 slayer, and some new thieving chests.

On this day, March 21st, 2020, Jagex added two new servers. By bringing these two servers, one pay-to-play and one free-to-play, online, Jagex effectively increased Runescape to 8 Worlds! This allowed for a total capacity of 10,000 simultaneous players and it had a massive 35mbps dedicated bandwidth! (for reference currently Runescape 3 alone can support 282,000 players simultaneously)

On this day, March 22nd, 2006, Jagex released In Aid of the Myreque. This quest is mostly known today for being a pre-requisite quest for the might Sunspear. This quest also allowed access to Temple trekking and a Gadderhammer. The hammer was quite useless but fun to run around with back in the day.

On this day, March 23rd, 2011, Jagex released a massive update which helped improve clans in Runescape. Jagex released the clan camp. Along with the clan camp came the vexillum and the clan cape. These are amazing items as the vexillum will teleport you to the portal for the clan citadel and the cape offers a free experience lamp each week if you are fealty 3 in the citadel. Jagex also released individualized clan pages on the official Runescape forums which allowed fellow clan members to compare stats and the owners of clans to advertise much easier.

On this day, March 25th, 2004, Jagex added the Duel Arena to Runescape. I am sure everyone is familiar with the Duel Arena and perhaps even won or lost a few GPs there. The Duel Arena is a well-known area for gambling and making massive amounts of money quickly, but also losing everything instantly. On th oldschool servers Jagex implemented a GP/Platinum token only staking and applied a tax to the winning pot to help remove a ton of gold from the game.

On this day, March 26th, 2002, Jagex released a news post about the new skill Fletching. Jagex anticipated everyone would want to try the new skill so they made all trees in Runescape non-depletable! This, of course, only lasted for 1 day. They also raised the woodcutting XP and boosted the fletching XP for completing a bow, by adding bowstring to it, since a lot of people were not finishing their bows.

On this day, March 28th, 2006, The Temple Trekking Minigame was added to Runescape. This minigame was popular for the lumberjack outfit which provided an experience bonus to woodcutting. The minigame is also used still, mostly by ironmen, for the resources it provides.

On this day, March 29th, 2004, Jagex released RS2. This was a massive step in Runescape’s history as it brought us from classic into the game we know and love today. RS2 was such a big change to the game and loved by so many. All items from Runescape classic were moved over with the accounts. They had an interesting system during the conversion which allowed for an easy transfer of items between classic and RS2 for people who wanted to continue with Classic.

On this day, March 30th, 2020, Jagex release the new skill archaeology. Many of you have already broken out your brushes and mattocks and broke your way into the zarosian temple. Not much is really known about this skill yet so keep on digging and enjoy the race to max cape.

On this day, April 1st, 2010, Jagex announced a Runescape theme park. Admittedly this turned out to be an april fools prank (obviously) but it was still an interesting idea and with the release of oldschool now I feel this would have actually been a decent attraction.
