NXT will soon be opened up for a series of beta weekend tests in the live game with long-standing players being invited to play it for the first time.

Who can take part? | System Specs

Gold Premier Club members and players who have had continuous membership since 31st January 2012 will be invited to play-test NXT.

Dates and times for the beta weekends will be confirmed soon, so keep an eye on the news and please note the following recommended system specifications:

CPU: Dual Core, AMD Phenom II or Intel i3/i5 CPU, 2.4+ GHz

RAM: 4GB+

GPU: GeForce 400x series, Intel HD 4x series, AMD Radeon 7xxx series

Disk Drive: A very fast HDD ideally a Hybrid HDD or SSD

As always with beta tests, please bear in mind that all content in NXT is subject to change and is not a representation of the final product. Any bugs or glitches that might be encountered are part and parcel of beta testing.

Update 19/01: As a thank you for how helpful they have been with betas in the past, we are also giving access to players who have been awarded the title "The Gamebreaker."

I will probably give it a try but I've never played RS for the graphics and tend to opt for the lower settings so the new client doesn't particularly interest me. I'll be interested to see how it looks on legacy modes.

Some aspects of the NXT client will vastly improve upon the Java based clients as it stands. Also, the specification mentioned are the recommended system specifications not the minimum, so you could possible play NXT with less RAM if you have an old PC.

One improvement that we saw in the NXT stream was how well it handled loading players at W2 Grand Exchange. In Java you would struggle and lag here and there, however, in the NXT there appeared to be hardly any lag, constant 20+ FPS running smoothly. (Bare in mind the guy was streaming/recording).

Most definitely excited to try this.

Has there been any mention on the Log in errors. Like yesterday it took me 20 minutes to log in after reset because I continuously got the "server busy cannot log in" error. If the new client can fix that and works with legacy mode then I'll be happy.

To be honest, I am happy with the old system and new system. I haven't had any problems with the current one just the odd time when i get the black/white screen.

But them fancy new Graphics though! NXT sounds like it's going to fix a lot of problems that's holding RS back because of Java. Hopefully within the next 3-5 years NXT will be the main system to be used and Java isn't needed no longer.

If that's the case, I wonder if we can see the max cash stack rise from 2 Billion GP ... Would be very interesting ...
