So, ignoring the fact that "Power to the Players" actually means "Power to those who quit because they didn't like EoC and get them back and playing"

I don't think people have realised yet that EoC was Jagex's fix to the entirely broken old combat system - the,
"hey, I can point and click and kill stuff" system, where the definition of being good was being able to click someone and wait until they died, with minimal attention required beyond clicking food and special attacks/vengeance in P2P.

Quote
Reinstated '138' combat formula, tweaked to give melee, ranged and magic equal contribution.

Whilst I'm happy that the formula is being changed, (I can't remember what it's being changed to exactly) but hopefully it's not biased in the favour of pures again.

Quote
Our primary aim with Legacy Mode was to bring back the old style of combat, focused around auto-attacks and special attacks. Legacy Mode strips out abilities and increases auto-attack damage to competitive levels.

So, uh, people want to use momentum and thresholds at the same time? That's cool I guess.

Quote
Old Interfaces

Legacy Mode contains old-style fixed and resizable interfaces which bring back the old look and behavior from before the New Interface System was introduced.

You can still access the newer Hero, Gear, Adventures, Powers and Social interfaces through the Main Menu (esc).

Life points and damage

Legacy Mode scales down the visual representation of life points, effectively dividing it by 10 when it’s shown on your screen.

It’s still the same amount of damage actually being done under-the-hood, but the numbers are smaller and more comfortable for players who preferred it from before.

Hit Marks

We’ve also changed the visuals for the hit marks you see when giving or receiving damage so they are what you remember from pre-EoC.

Hear ye! Hear ye!  Bring out yer nostalgia! By the bucket preferred! However jars and other small bottles and cans are accepted.

Quote
Minimap Icons

Legacy Mode simply wouldn’t be so without the old minimap icons & map. You’ll feel right at home with the old style icons and images – we know this was a big one for many of you!

This one is OK, the new ones are illogical and simply don't work.

Quote
F Keys

Quick switch F-Key commands are back, allowing maximum efficiency when it comes to skilling and slaying. Switch between interface tabs with easy-to-reach F-Keys.

Shield provoke

Provoke is an important ability in EoC for tackling some of the newer bosses. We have added the provoke function to shields from level 80+.

Legacy Players can access this important combat feature, should they want try their skills in higher-end PvM.

Armour Requirement Changes

For Evolution of Combat we wanted to make armour levels more consistent, but that had an unintended consequence on PvPers where it broke their specialist character builds.

We’re keen to revive an exciting PK community, so we’re returning the requirements for lower-level armours to their previous levels.

Rune will require level 40 Defence, adamant 30, mithril 20 and so on, all the way back down to iron with its level 1-Defence requirement.

"We want to get people who quit because they didn't like the new combat system back to playing the game by giving in and making others suffer because of it."

Just meh, whilst this is purely a thread talking about the Beta of legacy, it doesn't seem to hold many good things in it.

Jagex need to realise that those who quit because of EoC are playing 07, trying to get them back to RS3 is going to be solely detrimental to those who actually play the game and the updates.

I have to admit I just want the whole legacy hype thing to end so Jagex can move on with actual updates and new content.

I think we can conclude that generally people don't like change. The transition to RS3 was similar in community opinion to that of RSC to RS2, with the major difference that RS2 wasn't rushed by developers and players were given a choice whether they'd like to remain on RSC or continue with RS2.

Personally, I didn't like the new interface system because it was cluttered and difficult to navigate in. Too many features were rearranged. For example, I still haven't figured out how to check if I'm maxed in assist without having someone requesting assistance (I don't seem to have a "Trade and Assistance" tab nor can I open one using quick keys). The new interface simply isn't intuitive. Another example would be the private status, which to this day a lot of people still confuse with the private chat filter. I'm still undecided whether I will go back to the old interfaces or not. I wish they would just work on fixing all that's wrong with the new interfaces instead incorporating old code.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't mind the new minimap icons, I don't think their design is unintuitive.

On a side note, I think the news are posted manually with the news account because a bot would only post the RSS feeds (basically a short version of the news).

Its good to see you pasionate about this Meg, I admit I agree with the vast majority, mainly as I do not understand half what they talk abiut lol.

The one point I agree is your point on the people that are sick of EOc are playing 07, however as this develops this becomes a different game entirely.

We will son have the reset discussion for skillers once more, I wish they'd hurry up and decide.

No, I know :P

Just calling it a bot because I can't remember who does it and the account doesn't get used for anything else.

I don't think you're the only one, just one of the few.

I found that with the new icons I struggled to find a lot of things. (I literally spent 5 minutes looking for the spinning wheel at witchhaven for a task.)

I just find them a general irritant, the vast majority of players were fine with the old ones and there was no reason to update them.

[Like, look at the new mining area symbol, it literally looks like a runecrafting symbol.]

Yeah, generally people don't like change, it just frustrates me that Jagex are wasting their time reverting some of the change they've already implemented (although for smaller things like the combat formula and minimaps icons - for me, anyway, are fine.) instead of creating new content for the people that play RS3 for RS3, and not for the promise of the old combat system.

Are you allowing pures to roll back stats?

Yes, we’re currently investigating a very limited set of rollback packages. This will not be a rollback free-for-all however! We’re looking at allowing skill pures to reset their Constitution and Prayer, and defense pures to roll back their Defence.

These will be controlled rollbacks, only available in certain conditions. We have more investigation to do, but we hope to have something available shortly after Legacy Mode launches.

There's what Stee was talking about :P

I'd welcome back the old setup and 138 combat. Hopefully with the old setup I will be able to play like I did before, nowadays I'm just getting constant lag even with everything already on the minimum settings and in fixed screen.
Special attack and armor back at the previous level's and stuff is cool, but nothing that relates to me. I just wonder what combat levels the new formula would be for say, a pure with 70 range 55 hitpoints, since it was about 50 before.

In all honestly, I'd just like the game to be the way it was before. Don't try to make it into other games, just make it Runescape.

The action bar has been done in a million and one games, most notably WOW and Diablo. Copying this just makes the game seem like it doesn't know what it wants to be.

All i would like would be rs3 graphics, but just RS2 icons and stuff, that's all. Doesn't have to be a revert, just a little bit less confusing to the new player.

Also, ughh with the not having protection prayers protect from monsters.  Like, what is the point of even putting them on?

Because if you don't pray against dark beasts you get destroyed at the MEP1/2 place when cannoning.

Amongst other places, of course.

While i was doing it as a sarcastic remark but yeah i guess. What I mean is, i don't understand why they boosted protection prayers to 50% in pvp, 25% was fine, yet they can't change protection in PVM/training to 100%? Or even 75%, what's the point?
