Jagex has achieved its fourth record-breaking year in a row with revenue growing over 9% and profits rising 3.8%. According to the press announcement, the record results were achieved due to "the RuneScape franchise achieving its highest ever paid membership total and Old School RunesCape's launch on iOS and Android".

According to CEO Phil Mansell:

“This lets us accelerate Jagex’s transformation; we have strengthened our leadership team and will continue to build on the company’s talent base, we are funding new game development, building out our third-party live game publishing, investing in massive publishing platform upgrades, whilst continuing to expand our live RuneScape games.”

I think so too. I think RS3 has a stable, dedicated playerbase, but I doubt it gets a lot of new players.

I believe you can log in to a free to play account on OSRS mobile. Its limited to members at the moment for RS3 as they're still in a beta stage.

If they made it F2P they'd have to earn money through microtransactions, something the OS community would not appreciate at all

Tbh though, I would imagine that it's not free because it could increase the number of bots? I play another mobile game and every minute of every day there's a script bot shouting that there's a "limited deal" and that you should "act fast", which takes you to a phising site.

Well Zulrah isn't f2p, so no issues there

It wouldn't have to be midgame. Lots of apps have adverts as they are loading or during significant pauses in gameplay.
