Interesting.  Could this be why members are asking why certain items have jumped in price?  There's suddenly more money in the economy?

It's so sad that Jagex could have fixed it when the issue came up on Osrs but didn't bother to fix it. It's completely ruined the rares market, at the current rate Santa hats will be max Gp within a week or so.

It will be interesting to see if Jagex remain silent on this

Santa hats have dropped 300m(?) today from like 1850 to 1550 (still overpriced), but it's hard to say how much you can even trust these price updates on the forums. Still no word about partyhat prices. There's a rumour that thousands of santa hats were duped (one picture showing a stack of 8600 santa hats, possibly fake).

It's crazy they didn't bother checking if the same issue existed in RS3 lol.

I wonder what their item tracking system is like. It would be quite trivial to check if discontinued items started entering the game. It seems they don't check that.

I suppose since the video has been released people are panic selling, it will certainly be interesting to see what happens from this. It feels like one of those significant RS moments in the games history, on par with the Falador massacre.

I wonder if the people who duped the items will hoard the new rares or slowly put them into the games economy

Bought it back for 1316m and sold for 1340m within minutes. This is a goldmine if anyone wants to flip atm.

This kind of thing is becoming such a common occurrence and Jagex continuing to do very little about it, is like when bad things happen in real life.  The people who can do something about it shrug it off and issue an apology.  But those of us it actually affects just have to accept this is how things are.  They're "unpreventable" which isn't wrong.  But a lot of things can be done to make sure it won't happen as often.

The tough part about this is approach is the net result to the rest of you in terms of what we say. Frankly, it's a very fine line to walk - we may not quite be right in the ideal middle yet, and we'll think about it more following this, for sure.
