Craig's F2p Mining Guide.
« on: February 09, 2012, 17:42:02 »
Levels 1-15. Mine Copper and Tin at the Lumbridge swamp mine with an iron pickaxe.

This mine is found just south west of the river between Al Kharid and the Lumbridge Swamp.
You will mine here until 15 mining and if you want bank your ores at Al Kharid mine by going over the bridge.

Levels 15-99 or 15-60. Power mine iron ore at Varrock South West mine or Rimmington mine with the best pickaxe you can use.
The inventory for mining iron should look like this.

I keep 2 inventory spaces because when I power mine to get the fastest exp I right click drop whilst mining the ore. this is the quickest way to power mine.

Why to use urns- I used 18 urns in one hour of power mining iron. With these urns I got an overall mining exp of 34k in 1 hour.
Without using urns I would have got an overall exp of 28k exp. Even 6k exp per hour makes a big difference over time.

Where to find iron.

Varrock South West mine has four iron ore but is often crowded and is not the best option.
There is a bank near to the mine but it's not worth banking as it takes to long.
The fastest way to get the the mine is by using the canoe to the Champion's Guild.

Rimmington mine is the best place to mine iron. There is 6 iron ores here but it is best to use the three close together on the east of the mine.
This mine is hardly ever crowded and if it is just switch worlds.

Banking Iron (Not the best for skillers) Banking Iron in the resource dungeon is up to 35k per hour and 400k profit per hour.
There is one downfall however. The scorpions above the surface can be deadly to low levels. The king scorpion is also deadly to low and mid levels. The scorpions go unnaggressive after 15 minutes and you can safe spot the scorpions but it is just annoying.
Where to find the resource dungeon.

It is north of the mining guild and you will need 15 dungeoneering in order for this method to work.
Mine until you have a full inventory and then bank by going in to the resource dungeon and deposit your iron.

Levels 60-99 (optional) Coal at the Mining Guild.
The inventory for mining coal should look like this.

Take two urns per trip but you only use one and a half (with the coal bag). When you bank just make it so there is two again.
I strongly recommend getting a coal bag from dungeoneering. It costs 4k tokens but it is worth it.
The coal bag holds 27 coal ores.

Where to find the mining guild.

The mining guild is in Falador next to the Artisan's Workshop. The fastest way to get there is by teleporting using the clan vexillium.
Once you are finished with an inventory just bank it at the Falador Bank.

What the mine looks like.

The ores marked in blue are mithril ores. Don't mine these ores because they are not worth anything and they take ages to mine.
Mining coal is also 100k profit per hour.

Experience per/h rates.
Iron ore with urns - 34k
Iron ore without urns - 28k
Coal ore with urns - 19k
Coal ore without urns - 16.8k

Thanks for reading.

I've never thought about using the canoe system before.  O.o
Maybe I'll use it next time I play on my f2p skiller :p

Iron ore is pretty safely at 400gp each. Lol.  I'm not sure if you mentioned this in your guide, but I only like looking at the pictures, so I didn't read it fully. But the Resource Dg (in the dwarf mines) is, for me, faster than dropping. Up to 35k xp/hour when banking = to 400k cash/hour

Do you mean mining iron and then entering the resource dungeon? or mining coal inside of it?

Oh right but the scorpions are a nightmare outside aren't they?

If over 28 cb only king scorpions are agressive, if over 64 none are.

But even at lower than 28 after 5-15 minutes all scorpions become non agressive, even when entering and leaving the resource dung.

So you can sit there for 5-15 mins looking at them without getting attacked then they become unaggressive?

You can sit in the resource Dung whilst you wait. (or you could when I was 3cb, I assume it's still the same.)
Or you can safespot them whilst you mine.
