Why do you wish to be a veteran?  It's always nice to show people how long one has been a part of this family.  Not only that but perhaps they will see the veteran status and feel comfortable coming forth with questions

You have given us the pleasure of watching  your journey for a long time.

You know my feelings on some things you do and have to do and yet you respect me enough to always take my feelings into account.  Respect is a massive thing in this Clan.

It is obvious how much we all mean to you, and the feeling is mutual.
