I guess i will start by saying good evening to all of you. A chain of events has happened leading to this event. Earlier today i got off runescape to go pick up my wife from work ( was offline for roughly 3-4 hours)  and came back to an account with 50k in cash pouch (from 43m) and my bank cleaned. No i didn't have authenticator but i did have a bank pin. No i don't use my rs information on anything else. mainly because the information i use on this particular account i forget half of the time. This is the second time this has happened to me and unfortunately i will not be rebuilding yet again. Thank you all for being my friend. I hope my contributions to the clan helped. It sucks to be hacked, I've been hacked twice before. It's not easy to rebuild, but if you ever want to play again then listen to your friends this thread and install authenticator, perhaps even ask for a loan so you can get back on your feet.

Honestly, you must be dumb to get scammed and you are even dumber that you did not learn from your mistakes.

Blake this is so sad to hear, there are lots of people to help you rebuild. 

I agree with everyone here...I hope you'll reconsider.  My account was hacked once, years ago, before the authenticator and they stole over 38m and let me with 0.  It really sucked.  We'll help you get back on your feet and rebuild.

You might have a keylogger on your computer, since it's happened more than once, so I would advise you to reinstall your pc from scratch and change your rs password after reinstalling, or change your password from another computer.

Also a good thing to setup is 2-step factor authentication on both your mail and rs account to prevent this from happening again.

I can only reiterate what Rune said. Secure your RS account and E-mail with authenticator. Double check your E-mail security (recovery phone number/secondary email/security questions). Change it to things you are in full control over. Do the changes on a computer that you know is clean.

Any idea how they bypassed the pin? Like is it guessable? A lot of people use simple ones like 1234; or some relatable information like birth year; or have it written in a file somewhere. It's not likely they used spyware to steal it, but it is possible to send screenshots/recordings of the screen at certain events to try to capture the pin.

Avoid storing sensitive information digitally unless you encrypt it and keep it secure.

I appreciate all the kindness. As for leaving my wife told me that she would be upset if i quit playing because i have been playing for so long. That being said i will more than likely not quit though i slightly want to. Also i will not be taking donations though i appreciate all the offers.

Blake - I am glad you are not leaving - you are a great clannie.  I am sorry this happened to you.  And while I understand the gp is hard - I imagine it is also really hard just to have someone treat an account you worked to build like that.  If you are not taking GP contributions - if there are any materials that were cleared out - maybe we could chip in on those.  Good opportunity for some of us to clean up our banks!
