Sunday 1st July, 2pm game time.

Spain scraped through the group stages thanks to a last minute Iago Aspas equaliser against Morocco. Luck was further on their side that night as Portugal missed a penalty and conceded a late equaliser to Iran, meaning Spain topped the group. Defensively they have looked shaky, superstar goalkeeper David De Gea has let in all 4 shots against him. The usually strong centreback pairing of Pique and Ramos has also been leaking goals. These 2 look sluggish and are easily beaten against the teams with any pace. Having said that, Spain still boast a lot of attacking threat with players like Aspas, Isco and Costa looking lively and I think they will be too much for this Russian side. Russia had a somewhat easier run of group games, breezing past Saudi Arabia and Egypt, but struggled against the threat of Uruguay. This will be a real test for the host nation and the likes of Golovin, Cheryshov and Dzyuba will really have to be at their best. Russia (or USSR) have not won a world cup knockout game since 1966 and I think that record is set to continue. Their best chance is to try and catch Spain's aging centrebacks on the break because all I can envisage is 90 minutes of constant Spanish pressure here.

Spain (@Only Lilly) vs. Russia (@kev pass)

One to watch - Isco (Spain) and Aleksandr Golovin (Russia)
Prediction - Spain 2-1 Russia

Sunday 1st July, 6pm game time.

This match should be the more interesting of the two today with both teams looking well organised. Croatia are tipped by some as the dark horses for the trophy after seeing off all 3 teams in their group including beating Argentina convincingly. Croatia will be back to full strength today with big players such as Mandzukic and Rakitic returning to the lineup, they will pose a lot of threat going forward. Luka Modric makes the team tick but he is struggling to get on the scoresheet himself. Ivan Perisic scored a sublime goal against Iceland in what was another strong performance and he will always be a threat down the left wing. Denmark have been defensively solid in this tournament, conceding very few goals and are unbeaten in their last 18 international matches. They have lacked quality going forward though with star man Christian Eriksen the only one showing any real attacking flare. The likes of Yussuf Poulsen and Andreas Cornelius will need to step up today if they are to progress beyond this tricky fixture. I think this will be a close game, with many chances but few goals and a tight Croatia win.

Croatia (@Tracie) vs. Denmark (@Only Matt)

Ones to watch - Ivan Perisic (Croatia) and Christian Eriksen (Denmark)
Prediction - Croatia 1-0 Denmark

Monday 2nd July, 2pm game time.

This match should be the better one of the two today with both teams looking explosive in attack Brazil, clear favorites for this game by far. One of the teams who look likely to win the tournament, arguably the best team on paper in this tournament, but they have looked lack lustered and have been pegged back a bit in the group stages. However Brazil will want to send a message out there too all of the football fans and answer their critics. Allison will be looking for another clean sheet to his name, as he looks to impress. It wont be easy though as the Mexicans have really shone in this Tournament with playing some really attacking football with an impressive top 3, I think this game could really go to wire, especially if Mexico, play as well as they did in the opening game. Dark horses! However I honestly think, Brazil have the slight advantage with there players being a class above everyone in this tournament. They are the favorites at the end of the day. This shapes up to be one of the best games in the tournament, can Mexico do a miracle and knock out the big dog. (I HOPE SO) Neymar has been a talking point of the tournament, he really needs to galvanize the player

Brazil (@Powerless) VS Mexico (@Kobran)

One to watch - Neymar (Brazil) and Carlos Vela (Mexico)
Prediction - Brazil 2-1 Mexico

Monday 2nd July, 6pm game time.

Japan scraping through by the skin of there teeth, quite literally going through as runners up on YELLOW CARDS, i can only see one clear winner in today's game. Japenese fans have been one of the highlights of the tournament by cleaning up the stadium on multiple occasion, could you imagine what they would do if they could knock out BELGIUM! i think the pure power and aggression from the Belgium will really show through in today's game, and will be too hot for Japan to handle. Lukaku will be returning to the starting line up and will be firing Belgium to victory. He is looking to be taking that golden boot home. With De Bruyne also returning to the line up and will be waiting to show the world what he can do, arguably one of the best midfielders in today's football, the spine of Belgium will win them the game today! This could be your last game Rebeca ;)

Belgium (@Ardo) vs. Japan (@Rebeca)

Ones to watch - Lukaku (Belgium) and Honda (Japan)
Prediction - Belgium 3-0 Japan

Tuesday 3rd July, 2pm game time.

Shock winners of Group F, Sweden have been a solid outfit in this tournament, creating few chances but taking their opportunities to score. They were mightily unlucky against Germany and romped home against a poor Mexico side. Sweden have not won a world cup knockout game for 24 years but will fancy their chances here. The wife of Swedish captain, Andreas Granqvist, is due to give birth during this match but he has maintained that he will play regardless - brave! Switzerland are similarly inexperienced at this level of tournament football, having not scored a goal in the knockouts since they hosted in 1954. Forced into several changes through either injury or suspension, the Swiss will be without veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and also Fabian Schar. Where will these gaps leave them defensively? Xherdan Shaqiri went missing in their last group fixture and now really is his time to shine, especially with strike partner, Haris Seferovic, failing to step up to the plate. I think this one will be another close knockout match with chances few and far between, I'm going for a narrow Sweden win.

Sweden (@Alaklondewen) vs. Switzerland (@CGBx)

One to watch - Emil Forsberg (Sweden) and Xherdan Shaqiri (Switzerland)
Prediction - Sweden 1-0 Switzerland

Tuesday 3rd July, 6pm game time.

Colombia looked impressive in the group stages, only losing once after going down to 10 men against Japan for the majority of that match. They are well organised defensively, conceding only twice and also pose a lot of threat going forward. Colombia will be without star man James Rodriguez. The Bayern Munich man, who lit up the tournament in 2014, apparently overworked himself in training and is now carrying a knock. There is no doubt Colombia have enough attacking talent in Cuadrado, Falcao and Quintero, to see off England but how much will they miss Rodriguez? In what is a massive game for England, the entire nation will be expectant and Gareth Southgate really has his neck on the line here. This is arguably England's best chance at winning the world cup for over 50 years and he will be heavily criticised if their tournament ends in this match. Expect to see multiple changes and a return to a full strength squad. Will the manager keep his faith in the likes of Sterling and Alli? This will be an excruciating match for England fans and I think it could go down to the wire. I'm predicting a nervy game with many close chances, potentially an England win in extra time!

Colombia (@Aquanoise) vs. England (@Punyip)

Ones to watch - Juan Fernando Quintero (Colombia) and Harry Kane (England)
Prediction - Colombia 1-1 England, England win 2-1 in extra time

What's the similarity between the world cup and the EU? England is heading towards a painful exit from both! Go Sweden!

Friday 6th July, 2pm game time.

This is where the fun begins the quarter finals, and what a game to kick us off into action. This is is set up to be an absolute cracking game of football, France coming off a very entertaining 4-3 win over Argentina, which they looked the best team to have improved after the group stages, France are definitely ones to watch. With the best under 21 player single handily on this plant Mbappe, scoring a very smart brace, he will be looking to improve on that tomorrow. However, Uruguay are no push overs at all, being a outsider special, with one of the best up front two you will see in the tournament on their day, these two could do serious damage. Cavani, looking hungry to score and well Suarez doing what he does best (NOT BITING PEOPLE) but he is starting to score and assist his team when it matters. I am really excited for this game its going to be a cracking test, and whoever comes out on top on this one could be worthy off taken that trophy home with them. France have edge it with likes of Pogba and Kante in midfield however they will be out their veteran holding midfield Matuidi due to suspension.

Uruguay (@laralea) vs. France (@Karli)
One to watch - Paul Pogba (France) and Luis Suarez ()
Prediction - France 1-1 Uruguay
ET PENALTIES (FRANCE WIN)

Friday 6th July, 6pm game time.

The GAME of the day, 2 absolute power giants 2 teams 1 goal, and that's to win this cup. Either one of these two teams could easily win it this year and have the best team on paper by far. This is going to be a super duper game, both teams in form playing incredible well in their round of 16 tie. Brazil comfortable beating their opposition 2-0 and Belgium doing what they do best and showing great spirit and teamwork to over come a 2-0 to beat japan 3-2. Brazil play slicked fast attacking football where as Belgium play a very direct game feed the ball to Lukaku with is hold up play can bring in the big boys. Can it just be 8pm game time now..... Seriously cant wait for this one, hope you are all going to watching this. Should be exciting, means one of the big boys will be knocked out in the quarter finals. Countinho and Neymar (Apart from rolling) have been absolute unreal this tournament with showing there worth and showing the world why they are the best. Belguim will put up a good fight and will want to win this as much as anything, to show the world why they deserve to win the world cup. They are looking very sharp, with their counter attacking options they really can hurt anyone in this tournament and could do England a favor and knock out the favorites tomorrow!! <3. However in all honestly I can only see one winner in this and that is Brazil, having that much more experience I think will help them and it will be theirs to loose.

Brazil (@Powerless) vs. Belgium (@Ardo)

Ones to watch - Casemiro (Brazil) and Lukaku (Belgium)
Prediction - Brazil 1 - 0 Belgium
