Wednesday 27th June, 2pm game time.

Mexico arguably look the strongest team in this group and can qualify for the round of 16 with a draw here. They continued to play a fast and exciting style of football to see off South Korea in their second match and will look to do the same here. Sweden are another team playing surprisingly well, narrowly losing to Germany in the very last minute and should feel confident going into this one. Sweden can qualify with a win against Mexico or if they better Germany's result. Both teams have something to play for and I predict a very close game with many chances.

Mexico (@Kobran) vs. Sweden (@Alaklondewen)

One to watch - Javier Hernandez (Mexico) and Emil Forsberg (Sweden)
Prediction - Mexico 2-1 Sweden

Wednesday 27th June, 2pm game time.

South Korea will feel unlucky in this tournament, after playing some nice football, they have been narrowly edged out in their previous two matches. Their fate is now out of their hands and they will have to beat Germany (whilst also hoping Sweden do not pick up any points) if they are to qualify. Heung-min Son was in tears after their second game and his passion was evident. The world champions can secure qualification with a win, whether this will be as group leaders or runners up will be dictated by the amount of goals they can score. Toni Kroos produced a moment of magic to give Germany a late winner against Sweden, keeping their hopes of a title defence alive. I envisage Germany attacking (as usual), but how vulnerable will they be against this counter attacking South Korean side?

South Korea (@2w) vs. Germany (@Sissybear)

Ones to watch - Son Heung-min (South Korea) and Toni Kroos (Germany)
Prediction - South Korea 0-2 Germany

Wednesday 27th June, 6pm game time.

Group E is wide open, with 3 teams all still vying for the top spot. Serbia have looked organised, no thanks to their experienced players as well as the attacking threat Mitrovic can offer. He will have to perform once more if Serbia are to progress, requiring a win or a draw (if Switzerland fail for the latter). I can see Serbia scoring at least 1 goal here and should push Brazil to make for an interesting game. Brazil secured their first win of the tournament against a lacklustre Costa Rica side. The game was dull but sprang to life in the last 10 minutes with 2 goals in quick succession for the South American footballing giants. They will have to be more clinical and impose their dominance onto games earlier if they are to challenge for the trophy.

Serbia (@Vincent) vs. Brazil (@Powerless)

Ones to watch - Aleksandar Mitrović (Serbia) and Philippe Coutinho (Brazil)
Prediction - Serbia 1-3 Brazil

Wednesday 27th June, 6pm game time.

Xherdan Shaqiri rescued Switzerland's world cup by scoring a late winner against Serbia in the last round. Switzerland have looked surprisingly strong thus far, despite offering little attacking talent, they have managed 4 out of a possible 6 points, to include a draw against Brazil. This should be an easier test for them against an already eliminated Costa Rica side. Shaqiri may need to step up once more if they have any ambitions of finishing as group winners, something Brazil will be keen to beat them to. Costa Rica will be playing for pride in this game and are yet to score a goal at the tournament - a far cry from their performances in 2014. I think they will continue to struggle here and owing to the overall attacking talent in this match, I envisage a close game with very few chances. An exciting game in the Barnett household however!

Switzerland (@CGBx) vs. Costa Rica (@KGBx)

Ones to watch - Xherdan Shaqiri (Switzerland) and Bryan Ruiz (Costa Rica)
Prediction - Switzerland 1-0 Costa Rica

Thursday 28th June, 2pm game time.

The return of Rodriguez was clearly a major boost here but it was Quintero, who really shown last game week. Colombia, well where do i start with these, they really have impressed a lot of pundits backing now, can they be the dark horse? Outstanding upfront very pacey very direct I think they can really damage Senegal tomorrow, they are no push overs. Colombia really need to pull a win out to push forward and progress through the group but wont be an easy ride for Senegal. This group is wide open and its up for grabs for anyone to take second and first top but who will it be. Who will be playing England in the next round.

Senegal (@BuyMoreKeys) vs. Colombia (@Aquanoise)

One to watch - (Senegal) and (Colombia)
Prediction - Senegal 0 Vs Colombia 2

Thursday 28th June, 2pm game time.

Japan, well its all there's to loose really. All they have to do is win against a fairly poor Poland team. So could Japan pull off a miracle and top the group! Will they continue to clean the stadium if they win? We will find out very sharpish. Poland have been really poor this tournament they surely have to give their fans something to cheer for. Poland on paper look very good, but on the field they are very different. Can Lewandowski lead his team to glory, and send their fans home with 3 points, BUT it wont be easy as Japan are on fire.

Japan (@Rebeca) vs. Poland (@ShaneGoesArd)

Ones to watch - Shinji Kagawa (Japan) and (Poland)
Prediction - Japan 2-1 Poland

Wednesday 27th June, 6pm game time.

Group G is closed really , with 2 teams clearly rooting for top spot. Will it be England OR will it be Belgium. Its being said that both teams will be playing a so called wicker side to give the others a race. This will be a true test to see how good England can go, but football is coming home boys and girls. Can England score 6 against a very impressive Belgium back line, or will we start to show cracks playing a so called beater team. Both teams have won both games, can one team take all 9 points or will it be statement draw.

Footballs coming home (we'll go on getting bad results)
It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming
Footballs coming home
It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming
Footballs coming home

England (@Henk) vs. Belgium (@Ardo)

Ones to watch - Marcus Rashford (England) and Yannick Carrascco (Belgium)
Prediction - England 2 - 1 Belgium

Thursday 27th June, 6pm game time.

Panama, have coincided 9 goals in two games, can they try and keep a clean sheet other Tunisia or at least not coincide more then 2. After getting beaten by England with 6 cracking goals, however they do have something going forward, with scoring one against England. They need to stop rugby tackling people in the box and stop giving away silly penalties, as they can seriously score against Tunisia. But it wont be easy for Panama as Tunisia has one crazily good CB "Benatia" and have scored in both games. Both teams, have had a hard group to be fair and have done well to score against the likes of Belgium and England. Its a bit of a nothing game for them but I am sure both teams will wont to win for there fans.

Panama (@Oh Ella) vs. Tunisa (@sheepprobe)

Ones to watch - Roman Torres (Panama) and  Medhi Benatia (Morroco)
Prediction - Panama 0-1 Morroco

England and Belgium are in really interesting situation, I would say none of them wants to win this game and Group G.

Winner of group would end in same side of table as Uruguay, Portugal, France, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
Runner-up of group would get Spain, Russia, Croatia, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland.

England and Belgium will get their Round of 16 opponents from Group H. Japan, Senegal and Columbia can still advance, Japan having best odds to finish on the top of the group. So it does not really matter, who England and Belgium will face, they will be favorites anyway. Also worth to mention that Group H will finish before Group G.

Winner of Group G would face Brazil/Mexico winner in the quarter-finals, when runner-up would face Sweden/Switzerland winner in the quarter-finals.

So it would be useful not to win the Group G, because the runner-up has to face weaker teams and therefore has better odds to reach the semi-finals.

So ye, even though I support Belgium, I do not want them to win today. Draw would be perfect but I don't mind losing to England at all.

In reality, that game will probably end up as a very boring 0:0 draw.
Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way.

Can we have this prediction noted and see if it comes true? The Simpsons are pretty good at getting things right! ;)

Nope, I can already say that it won't happen. It is just impossible as they are in the same side of the table.

Saturday 30th June, 2pm game time.

Two giants of international football get the knockout stages off to an interesting start. Both of these teams have been somewhat lacklustre in the group stages and will have to now start performing if they are to be taken seriously. France have a seriously impressive squad and have been disappointing in this tournament. Players like Mbappe, Griezmann and Pogba will really have to step up. France have lost their last 8 world cup matches against South American opposition, time to buck that trend? Lionel Messi has been the focal point for Argentina so far but it was defender Marcos Rojo who ultimately secured their progression with a last minute winner against Nigeria. They will have to be better to see off this France squad boasting a wealth of talent. I'm predicting a nervy game for both teams with chances few and far between, but can see France just edging it - maybe in extra time.

France (@Karli) vs. Argentina (@Only Liam)

One to watch - Kylian Mbappe (France) and Lionel Messi (Argentina)
Prediction - France 1-1 Argentina, France win in extra time 2-1

Saturday 30th June, 6pm game time.

Another close game on the cards here, neither of these teams will want to be overly aggressive. Uruguay look solid defensively and are yet to concede a goal at the tournament. Combine this with their impressive front 2 and they could be dark horses for the trophy. Luis Suarez has looked sluggish in some matches then brilliant in others, scoring a sublime free kick against Russia to confirm them as group winners. Portugal have looked equally as strong, conceding more goals, but they have looked stronger going forward. Can Cristiano Ronaldo perform for a 4th game? It will be some feat if he does especially considering he has never scored in a world cup knockout match! I think Portugal will have to call on their other talented players, such as Bernardo Silva and Ricardo Quaresma, if they are to get the better of this game. I'm thinking this one will be close but ultimately the strong Uruguayan centreback pairing will prove insurmountable for Portugal.

Uruguay (@laralea) vs. Portugal (@Krazy Golf)

Ones to watch - Luis Suarez (Uruguay) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
Prediction - Uruguay 1-0 Portugal
