I think we should set up overall trackers for both clans for a few days to see how close our normal gains are before we make a decision.

Changing our woodcutting trackers to overall would reveal they beat us by 12m.

I think they want this because they know they've the advantage and they want revenge. :P

I think this isnt even worth considering

we have a lot of skillers, so warbands are not as easy.

And I know we arent a rich clan

To be fair, we got 90% of their overall xp whereas they got 78% of our woodcutting xp during the competition. It would definitely be a closer fight, but they might have some buyables or something planned.

As I said, I'm not crazy about the idea, certainly not with buyables. I just thought I'd get some opinions.

There is a solution to a reasonably fair overall competition, but it's rather intricate. It could be designed in similarity to one of our previous skill wars.

With a fair base to factor in the xp/h differences, there'd be no advantage to training a fast buyable. In theory, all skills would be equal

When I was in Hopefull I recall participating in a war against Consentus where there was a selection of non-buyable skills and 3 or 4 members were selected from each clan for each skill. I'd like to see a war like this so while there is some degree of choice, once you choose a skill, you're still stuck with it for the weekend (suits my playstyle especially :P .) If Summit aren't up for it, there are always other clans out there, maybe even skiller pure clans? (may require a rule rework to stop combat players having an advantage).

Yeah, I don't really understand how that works and trying to get them to do the same would be a nightmare.

Yeah, I don't really understand how that works and trying to get them to do the same would be a nightmare.

First of all, we'd need to decide what xp/h each individual skill is, and this is extremely difficult to get accurate because there are so many methods of gaining XP. Once that's decided, it's a simple process.

For example, assume that we use fishing as a base point (1). 1000 fishing xp would be worth exactly 1000 overall xp. Assume that fishing is 75k xp/h and thieving 300k xp/h. Thieving must then be compared to fishing: 75,000 / 300,000 = 0.25.
1000 thieving xp would then be worth 1000 * 0.25 = 250.

Both clans would have all their members on separate trackers in each skill. At the end of the war, simply multiply each skill's total xp to the skill's corresponding base, and then sum up the values. It's a lot of work but the real obstacle is the accuracy of the xp rates

Holy moly dude. I won't lie, I'd rather find another clan (maybe a skilling clan) and pick 1 skill with them. It shouldn't be this difficult to have a fun competition.

Yeah, it's only an example of a fair overall xp contest. Without such restrictions, one individual alone could basically decide a buyable skill war (I think for example 200m summoning is possible to do over a weekend?) :P

They'll probably not be keen on that idea due to the fact they can't win by just buying exp lol.

Also a belated congrats to everyone who took part!

Red I'm totally up for this, it seems fair enough for skillers and combatters, rich and poor

Only problem is we have to calculate the exact xp/hr

That would be more fun than sticking to one skill
