Psychometrics
Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement, which includes the measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and personality traits.
Everyday this week I will put your brains to the test and ask you to figure out a set of puzzles.
This event will include riddles, logic puzzles, symbol sequences, geometrical puzzles and number sequences.
I will post at 22:00 game time each day and you will have the whole week to PM me your answers.
Good luck

Day 1 - Numerical Ability
Numerical sequences are presented as a series of numbers arranged according to a logical rule. This rule is based on the relationship all numbers have among them, which usually involve performing basic calculation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Once this rule or logical relationship is discovered, you can find out the next number of the sequence. These tests are designed to assess the mathematical aptitude of a person.
Which number comes next?
1, 8, 27, 64, 125,
???
3, 17, 20, 37, 57,
???
1, 10, 18, 25, 31,
???
7, 5, 8, 4, 9, 3,
???
23, 45, 89, 177,
???
3, 8, 23, 68,
???
Hopefully this is an easy one to start you off with :)

Day 2 - Logical Diagrams
The following will test how you visualise objects, solve problems and find solutions through the process of deduction. Complete the below puzzles and test your logical reasoning!
1. Can you complete the final fruit calculation?
2. Find the route to save the washing from the rain! (Draw in Paint and reupload your answer)
3. Which number pyramid is the correct bird's eye view?
4. Which 2 of these images are identical?
5. Which letter cube is made using the below layout?

Day 3 - Geometrical Reasoning
The following will involve the use of critical thinking, logical argument and spatial reasoning to answer. Fine tune your geometrical reasoning to enable you to recognise spatial relationships and aid in problem solving.
1. How many degrees (°) make up angle
C
?
2. How many triangles can you find in this shape?
3. Which spiral has the greatest area - A, B, C or are they equal?
4. How many squares can you find in this shape?
5. Which heart has the greatest area - A, B, or are they equal?
Send your answers in PM, you have until Saturday 3rd Nov at 22:00 game time!

Day 4 - Riddle Puzzles
Riddles aren't really a common feature of psychometric tests but I thought it would be fun to include them. Have a go at the below and remember the correct answer isn't always your first thought!
1. In a race, what is the position of a driver after he passes the second placed driver?
2. James is standing behind Tom and at the same time Tom is standing behind James. How is this possible?
3. A rat is at the bottom of a 20 metre deep pit. Every day the rat climbs 5 metres upwards, but at night, it slides 4 metres back down. How many days does it take before the rat reaches the top of the pit?
4. The day after tomorrow is the third day after Wednesday. Which day was the day before yesterday?
5. In the middle of a round pool lies a water lily. The water lily doubles in size every day. After exactly 14 days, the lily will cover the complete pool. After how many days will the water lily cover half of the pool?

Day 5 - Inductive Reasoning
Inductive reasoning tests include symbol sequences designed to test your logical problem solving ability. These tests often require participants to compare various attributes of elements, such as the shape or colour, or in terms of size and number. Give the below a go and see if you can spot the correct pattern!
Which symbol comes next in the following sequences?
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Day 1: Numerical Ability
1) 1, 8, 27, 64, 125, ?
216
Cube numbers - 1^3 = 1, 2^3 = 8, 3^3 = 27, etc..
2) 3, 17, 20, 37, 57, ?
94
Adding the previous number together, (3+17)=20, (17+20)=37, (20+37)=57, etc.
3) 1, 10, 18, 25, 31, ?
36
+9, +8, +7, +6, +5
4) 7, 5, 8, 4, 9, 3, ?

1 big square
four 3x3 squares
2 middle squares and 8 squares within these 2
nine 2x2 squares, across 3 rows
sixteen 1x1 squares
5) complicated maths but
Equal size
Day 4 - Riddle Puzzles
1) In a race, what is the position of a driver after he passes the second placed driver?
SECOND
You are in THIRD place if you are trying to pass the second place driver, so you go into SECOND.
2) James is standing behind Lucy and at the same time Lucy is standing behind James. How is this possible?
THEY ARE STANDING BACK TO BACK
3) A rat is at the bottom of a 20 metre deep pit. Every day the rat climbs 5 meters upwards, but at night, it slides 4 metres back down. How many days does it take before the rat reaches the top of the pit?
SIXTEEN
(click to show/hide)
4) The day after tomorrow is the third day after Wednesday. Which day was the day before yesterday?
TUESDAY
The third day after Wednesday is Saturday. If the day after tomorrow is Saturday, then today is Thursday. Therefore, the solution is: the day before yesterday was Tuesday.
5) In the middle of a round pool lies a water lily. The water lily doubles in size every day. After exactly 14 days, the lily will cover the complete pool. After how many days will the water lily cover half of the pool?
THIRTEEN
Clue was in the riddle, 'doubles in size every day' - after 14 days it will cover completely so the day before would be half cover - 13 days.
Day 5 - Inductive Reasoning
1)
D
-
Colours are alternating black/white, so next must be white. The cross and circle are also moving one point clockwise around the hexagon, so answer must be D.
2)
C
-
Again, top right hexagon is alternating black/white, so next must be black. Next deduction is that the black and white shapes are diagonal to each other, so only option is C.
3)
E
-
So many people overthought on this one! It was nothing to do with the orientation of the circles, but simply the numbers. Alternating numbers of black and white circles - first image is 7 white, 5 black - second image is 5 white, 7 black - third image is back to 7 white, 5 black - and repeat. The only answer is E because it has 7 white and 5 black circles to continue the pattern.
4)
D
-
The black and white sections in each image are exactly half in all areas, therefore the only option is D.
5)
C
-
The black and grey squares are moving one space each time. As they reach the end of the cross, they reappear at the corresponding opposite side. If you follow the sequence, the answer is C.
6)
D
-
The pattern tells us the middle diamond is always white, ruling out B. The middle diamond is alternating dots/non dots so the sequence tells us no dots, ruling out A and E. The squares in the sequence seem to follow a pattern of black, white, grey - the final given symbol is black so you would assume the next must be white, ruling out C. Tough one!
