They aren't great you cant choose who joins it everyone can just touch the crystal and it doesnt count bonus xp or reward xp (lamps/quest rewards etc)

I like the concept of challenge gems, particularly the part about blocking bonus and reward xp. However, as far as skill wars are concerned (especially with the clan), I'm not sure they are very useful other than for gatherings. Why:
 • Max duration is 30 minutes (wayyy too short).
 • Can't set them exclusively to friends/clan
 • Everyone needs to be on the same world (and possibly in vicinity)

A few things I'd like clarified:
 - What happens if you lobby/dc during a session?
 - Do you have to be in the challenge gem's vicinity? If so, how far does it reach?

It could be used for mini skill wars though, like at clan gatherings and stuff :P

someone set one up for combat in priff the other day, i took part and went to the airuts at piscatoris hunting area and it worked fine, im not sure about DC'ing, ill guess it just runs the timer down but will have to see, i think it could be a good bit of fun for a weekly event every so often, im more than happy to put prize money down as long as im happy that everyone will play fair. we can put the crystal somewhere completely random that nobody goes to (the old places you used to drop trade between accounts before multi-logs) or even try and put them into a POH?

Maybe if you spelled Challenge Crystals right they would work better.
