As for the map, not a scooby. Trying to compare it to things but have no idea where to start. I thought fish flingers for some reason.

Ahh, that hint helps. I was pretty off with my guesses. I immediately spotted a couple of words, e.g. "use" near the top right corner, which made me think that there was probably a hidden message. Since the puzzle had two open endings, I thought that the logical place to begin was at either one and just follow the line to its very ending. A long the path, I found a bunch of words that together could form a couple of somewhat sensible instructions.

Here's a picture of my line of thought:

Pink markings near what I thought were the key words: "Use it on my ... "

My best guesses were "use a tuna to lure it out" or "use it on a tuna to work it out". I did find it strange that I couldn't make any use of the words found before "use"; it didn't make sense that the first word would appear so late into the maze, which is why I scrutinized the image once again. I then noticed I had missed about 50% of the words and possibly more. My new findings didn't help me, so I felt stuck too.

I don't believe this one is... If you solve the clues (I'll try and make them so that f2p can do them) then you can still submit the answers to me for the prize.

I'm a bit confused now I thought from your earlier post that we were supposed to look for a number of specific items only, which implies it wouldn't really matter where on the picture you begin to look, as long as you look everywhere. Is there a hidden message/instruction to be found?

Well, you can begin by looking at the letters where they are grouped together and see if they can form a word. For example in the top right corner, where the letters UTIS are. That's an anagram for "suit" or simply "I", "it", "its" and "sit" if you don't use all of the letters.

I still haven't figured out whether the letters can stretch farther, and if so, to what extent. To a nearby group only? Could they even "jump over" other letters?

I had ashes, blue dye, tuna, (gem, suit), tinderbox and monkfish on my last draft. The two latter dubiously found. Time to redo this!

Just one item, and a specific quantity of it is referenced.

I must admit I havent even tried this, but I am enjoying watching Redtunnel get frustrated   :-X

I'm going to make some assumptions, since this puzzle could spell out just about anything without restrictions.
1) We can not make a turn at any intersection.
2) The letters are at corners only, ignoring all the intersections/four-ways. Sort of hinted in the topic, but could be a misunderstanding on my part.
3) The item we are looking for is a P2P item. This was strongly hinted in the topic.
4) The item is tradeable, since we are supposed to hand it/them in by the end of this treasure hunt.
5) The item is probably cheap and insignificant, for the same reason as 4).
6) The item we are looking for contains a fair amount of letters, this because the maze is fairly big.
7) The quantity is a low number, probably under 10. For the same reason as 4) and 5).
8) The words are not scrambled, because that would make it nearly impossible.

There is a concern with assumption 2), if the letters were at corners only, the majority of the puzzle is wasted space and effort.

I was debating which would be the natural starting point (e.g. a possible subconscious design choice by Wasted Mime). I sent this picture to a couple of friends and asked them whether they would take the left or right path:

The left path was clearly favoured, but not in conclusive numbers. And even so, Wasted Mime could consciously have changed this.

I will try the method of elimination to extrapolate rules to narrow it down further.


Another edit: I was contemplating whether these skips would only happen at spaces, e.g. a random example "four rune platebodies", it would skip a corner every time a space was used between the words. However, seeing as there are 34 corners, it is unlikely. Trying it anyway, you can't get farther than this by that rule:


This poses the question how often do these skips occur? Is there a pattern, e.g. two letters and then a skip? What is the jump limit on a skip?
