[NERFED]EoC: QBD guide (high level)
« on: November 29, 2012, 19:40:18 »

QBD guide with Dharoks.
QBD used to be a hard boss but now because of EoC you can get 3~ minute kills. It is a completionist cape req, trimmed req, and is also good money :)

Requirements

90+ in all Melee stats
85 Herblore
70 Prayer (with access to piety)
Ability to use a decent combat familiar
About 5m starting to cash to buy a Dharok set and other gear.

Recommended

Max Melee
99 Summoning
96 Herblore(or access to Overloads)
95 Prayer
Dreadnips
Tokhaar-Kal
Song from the Depths quest. This means you have reduced damage from the QBD.

Gear

Head: Dharok Helmet
Amulet: Whisper > Fury > Glory
Cape: Tokhaar - Soulwars - Skillcape (t).
Torso: Dharok Platebody
Legs: Dharok Legs
Weapon: Dharok's Axe
Offhand: N/A
Gloves: Goliath > Barrows
Boots: Steadfast > Dragon
Ring: Onyx(i) - Warrior (i) - Ring of Wealth
Aura: Penance or Vampyrism work well, not required.
Summoned: Steel Titan > Iron Titan > Other Combat Familiar.

Inventory

Dreadnips
Overload(Melee potions)
Prayer Renewal
Super Antifire (must have!)
2-3 Prayer Potions (if using Penance they are unnecessary)
Summoning Scrolls (with familiar already summoned)

Ability Bar

1. Slice
2-7. Miscellaneous Basic melee abilities
8. Assault
9. Berserk
The rest can be whatever you want, I barely use them apart from food.
You should spam Slice as much as possible, use Berserk when you have your ultimate, and assault if you have ultimate but your Berserk hasn't cooled down.

QBD Attacks

Fire Wave

The QBD breathes a wall of fire. First used in phase one. The number of fire walls increases to two in phase two and three in phases three and four. This can easily be tanked if over 3k Life Points however you should eat to 5000~ to be safe.

Tortured souls

The QBD summons a Tortured soul. The black discs on the floor hit about 1k~ damage so can be tanked/easily eaten through. First used in phase two. The number of souls increases to two in phase three and four in phase four. When in phase four it is advised to eat up as you will have 4 of the discs hitting you.
Later, the QBD siphons the tortured souls to heal herself, you can outhit this and killing the souls is unnecessary.

Extremely hot flames

This is only used in Phase 4. It deals 3 rounds of damage and it is recommended to run to the side to avoid being hit 3 2000s. The damage is reduced towards the side.

Time Stop

Only used in Phase 4. A tortued soul will spawn to the east or west and you will have approximately 15 seconds to kill it before it freezes you and any damage dealt is dealt after it ends. You should kill this soul if you see it, it is easy to one hit it in Dharoks. You usually won't get KOed during it unless the QBD performs Hot Flames or Fire Wall.
[/size]
Phases

The QBD has four phases, each with 1/4 of her lifepoints. At the end of each phase you will be unable to attack the QBD until you have activated a Dragonkin artefact located around the arena. While running to the Artefact she will summon Grotworms. You can ignore these and if anything they help with lowering your life points to hit higher on QBD.

Strategy
Pot up, use Protect Item and Turmoil(or Piety)
Phase 1: Spam abilities and summoning specs; this is probably the longest phase. Don't eat during this phase as you want your hp as low as possible to hit high with the dharoks. Try to get to the artefact as quick as possible.
Phase 2: Same again however if your life points drop to 1500/2000, turn ss on, if you aren't healing quick enough eat. If you are almost at Berserk, wait till you can use till you eat. The QBD will summon some worms.
Phase 3: This Phase the QBD could turn Blue or Green (or stay the same). If she is Blue ignore the damage you take as you will hit constant 4000+. Kills are a lot quicker with it. If it goes Green just continue fighting as normal. Ignore the worms and tortured souls.
Phase 4: Watch out for extremely hot flames and time stop. There are usually alot of Worms but it is best to ignore them and mass damage onto the QBD.

Deploy Dreadnips when you remember, drink prayer pots when you need and spam your familiar as much as possible.

Loot

There is a 100% chance of: 8 Dragon bones, 2-8 Royal Dragonhide, 50-100 Royal bolts.
Then there are some miscellaneous loots such as seeds, 2 dose brews, rocktails.
Main Drops:
Royal Crossbow Piece, each about 1m each.
Dragonbone Upgrade kit, about 5m.
Visage, vary in price, 2-5m.
Dragon Kiteshield, 17m GE.

Example Kill
Coming soon :)

Thanks for reading and good luck on drops ;D

Sure, I'm not sure how different the speeds will be. I also think only decent method is royal cbow. I don't mind though :)

Seems like a great guide which you have put a lot of effort into, QBD still seems scary so I'll stick to glacors for now ;)

If you are dhing then only ss in phase 3 or 4 unless you have to as you want to keep your hp as low as possible to get the dh effect.
I'm not sure about dual wielding, dh is good because at the moment the set effect is overpowered. The damage is capped at 5000 but you hit constant 3-4000s with low enough hp. You'll have to try rapier/ccb out yourself.

Yeah so DH got nerfed so so did this method. Feel free to try it out but it won't be near as effective as it was. Other methods are out there but the only really effective ones require a Zaryte Bow.
Basic principals such as the waves/specials still apply but you don't hit anywhere near as often/high :s
Congrats to everyone who made some gp/got their journals :)
