Castaways
Castaways are non-player characters that can be found in the Arc by finding a message in a bottle and using the treasure map contained in the bottle to locate the castaway. Progress of which castaways the player has found can be seen in the Arc Journal. Finding all the castaways unlocks the [Name] the Castaway title.

Different bottles are available on different days, with the available bottles changing at daily reset (00:00 UTC) and the bottles appear on the same day for everyone. Each bottle has a unique cycle, becoming visible once every few days. The cycle is a cycle of one day for the first bottle, two days for the second bottle, three days for third bottle, etc

You need a Tortoise trap to be able to catch Tortles to the west of Whale's Maw.

Edit: Speak to the Tortoise hunter, Reggie, on Waiko

Update about the Chime hunting technique.

I caught 51 Tortle's in ten minutes, and each tortle gives 575.5 Hunter EXP and each Shell gives 4 Chimes each. If you craft these into Tortle shell bowls (4 clippings) you can sell them for 10 coins each.

So, in an hour you can earn:
  • 176K Hunter EXP
  • 720 Chimes

Ornate tortles are 3x the XP, which is very nice for skillers :p Unfortunately they last only about 30 minutes. Same number of chimes from them

A fourth bottle has been found on Aminishi. You need to wear a Monkeyspeak amulet or a Cramulet in order to see it and head to the Eastern shores of Aminishi.

Unfortunately not, but I did wiki to see what you were talking about. Wiki says that they're a guarantee spawn until you kill the required amount of them for the miniquest \:D/.
