Gamer guide to buying computers
« on: May 02, 2020, 20:13:37 »
People have longed asked  me what  they should be looking for when it comes to a desk or laptop as gamer.

  • you should be looking for a quad core  or better  destop Cpu one matter what platform you choice. yes their are latop with desktop cpus in them. Witch will have more clock speed and will be able to have a upgrade path  also ask if   the cpu is soldered to board or not . You want the one that not soldered
  • you want a internal dedicated graphics card as games are graphic demanding . Most laptops come with low end  graphics card or the graphic will be on the processor. To get better graphics you want to get a  external gpu  dock or enclosures . The only  limiting factor will be the port that your going though  if your going the laptop rout . You want to plug it into the fastest port .
  • If you are going the pre built pc or latop rout most of the time ssd and mechanical hard drive are included in the price .  You want  keep build stock  configuration wen buying as it save you  some money . Just make sure you have a location to add a m.2 ssd  to speed up load times in programs.
  • Ram. just like  said about  the storage. keep the ram  configuration  stock . You can easily upgrade the ram to 16 or 32gb  later after buying  just make sure the motherboard or computer you buy support 16 and 32 gb. make sure you get the correct ram for project. Laptop ram is called sodimm ram which will be smaller form factor size.
  • as for ports usb 4 will be comming some time soon in the near future which will be a speed of 40 Gbps Maximum Speed . It will be compatible with Thunderbolt 3 device and this port will be  Type-C This might be something to look for if you going for the fast port speeds. But if  usb  4 is not out buy the time you buy a computer you can aways get a usb 3 with a type c connector .You also look for a hdmi port  as their a lot of   HDBaseT   to Hdmi adapters and products. This product wil let  you run Ethernet cable as display cable. It comes in hand when you want the display to show in different rooms.  Ethernet cables  are cheap . Hdmi  video come out clear  as long as you got good graphics card  and display. Many products come with hdmi. And short runs of hdmi cable can be cheap
  • you dont need cd or dvd  or blueray drive. Just get type c flash drive for installing  most thing you need
Buying used is not a bad buy as well. just be sure you able to update processor and and is good condition. They loads of used sellers on internet and even som near you.
You can also buy Barebones destop PC Kit. It will normally include a case , motherboard and power supply . You need to buy your own or have  ram , Cpu  and ssd already
Mac computers are great products but not cheap and not  recommend as a gaming  computer. If you need it as a work station  it might be a good buy.

If you going to build a gamming pc check out https://pcpartpicker.com/
This just a guide to get you started in gaming but not everything you might ever need  or want to think about having .
