From Couch to Marathon
« on: September 24, 2017, 14:09:59 »
Hello! Thought I will share something I have been doing past months.

My vacation ended mid July, and oh boy...I was lazy as a sloth during that time. I was seriously out of shape and something had to change, so I had this crazy idea to run a marathon in two and half months...

When I first started I was struggling with 5K, my times were around 28-30 minutes and I was completely exhausted afterwards.

During last 2 months I have worked hard, run over 200km and made quite some progress:

  • My fastest 5K is now 22:21
  • 10K 48:34
  • 15K 01:18:40
  • Half Marathon 1:53:55

Yesterday I had my longest run so far, 30K, and was able to do it in 02:44:24

I still have 13 days until my first marathon start, but after yesterday I am feeling pretty confident that I will be able to finish it :)

It may not be a huge deal for you, but it is really important for me. I have been dreaming of running a marathon for a while but never thought I will actually do it and it is unbelievable how close I have come with my recent progress :)
Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way.

One week to go. Had an easy week, only run 3x10K but surprisingly run a new 10K record today (didn't aim for it lol). Feeling really great, already can't wait for the start of marathon :)

Next week will be rest & relax, only going to do a short shakeout run a day before marathon.

I did it! First 30km was quite good but last 10km...one of the hardest things I have done.
