Table can be something like this, unless there are, for example, 6 teams of 1vs1 then it would mess it up, but then I suppose players could vs 2 people and then the people with the most total wins (0/1/2) go forward and proceed from there.

Will work out the table when sign up ends.

Just noticed Josh both won and lost. Nice.

We use this in a pool league I play in a lot. You have a losers bracket and a winners bracket. The 'winner' of the losers plays the 'winner of the winners at the end. He must beat the 'winner of the winners bracket twice in a row to revieve first place.

This way, every participant must lose twice to revieve their placing. (The winner of the two winners playing gets 1st, then the loser gets second. The next place on the winners bracket is 3rd place.

Also, please sign me up.

So basically, in this screenshot, I would vs Meg at the end because she won the losing section, but she would have to beat me twice in a row else she'll get second no matter.
That's a good idea.

Edit: Also, what happens if you have an unequal setup? Like 20 people sign up so it's 10 teams of two, but then it's 5 people that go through.

You can assign each participant a random number. then use a random number generator to  pair up the participants randomly

Once that is done. Use the above link to generate a tournament bracket. If you want I can do that for you =)

I created a random example. Whoever is in charge of this would create something like this image below

When we go to round 2, ect. we would go back to the bracket and edit it to show the winners/losers etc.

If there is an uneven amount of people then everyone is randomly assigned a number. You are then listed on the sheet, the last number gets a free move on. There's not a whole lot you can do with uneven numbers, but at least the last man out still has the opportunity to lose twice like everyone else.

Only thing is with this bracket it only works if there are participants in a multiple of 8 else it throws the brackets off. Since you can't pair up 5 people if we have an amount like that. We will have to wait and see how many people sign up, and if the pairings don't work we can just do it so you have to vs people twice to see how many wins each person in that section wins to determine who goes through to next section.

Say there was 5 pairs go through, player 1 could vs player 2 and 3, player 2 vs 3 and 4 and so forth and then most wins passes to next section, if you get what I mean.

At least, that makes sense in my head. Not sure if I've typed it right.

Yes that does work. Lol, ironic enough that is another method we use in pool league as well. The only thing with that is there will be a ton of games to be played. If there is 10 people, each person will have to play 9 different games. That will take quite sometime for everyone to finish due to time zone differences and everything.

I'd suggest you just wait to start the competition until you have the desired amount of competitors, then give each person 2 days ( 5 days if they are trying to coordinate.)  to complete their match or whoever is inactive receives forfeiture of that game and moves to the appropriate slot. (If both are inactive, then randomally decide outcomes)

To make it easy, it will just be capped at 16 participants so it divides up nicely.

There's no time limit, but if people haven't played within a few days I guess that could count as a forfeit. Since the majority of the people play RS they can just catch the person online and play it on any online chess site or on Funorb (check post after Redtunnel's to see how to get it to work).

We now have 16 players, so I am going to randomly generate pairs now until all the people have been chosen.

SIGNUPS ARE NOW CLOSED. SORRY IF YOU MISSED OUT.

There will be other ones to join in future, so keep an eye out. ;)

Alright, I used a random number generator between 1-16 and kept rolling until a new number came up that wasn't used and that was the next numbers partner. 8 and 16 were the last two numbers so they are the final pair that wasn't rolled.

In order of rolled teams:

3 | 7 - Jordy & Jarofhearts
11 | 13 - Redtunnel & MeLvl138
1 | 6 - Pluto & Only Lilly
4 | 14 - Jordan, or something & Sebbe_xd
2 | 10 - Alizadeh & Winter
9 | 12 - Mining Cap T & Josh
15 | 5 - Thirgo & Tommykillme
8 | 16 - All Lov3 Me & Asthentix

I've looked around and what I would suggest is to sign up to http://gameknot.com/ - Then it gives you the option to send a challenge to a friend, so when you've both joined, tell the other person your username and then game on I suppose.
I've not used the site so I can't say what it's like.

I'll make a table now and fill in everyone's name. The next round will begin when all 8 pairs have finished their game. There isn't a forfeit date yet.

Good luck all. :)

Don't forget to post who wins or message me!
