Spider-Man PS4
« on: September 03, 2018, 22:25:27 »
O-M-Goodness!

OK ya'll.  With only 4 days left as I type this, until Insomniac Games' big release of Spider-Man, I can hardly put the amount of excitement I'm feeling into words.  In development roughly since 2015, it's had several date changes but nobody ever complained about a high quality game, both visually and mechanically (or maybe they have, I don't know).  This is a PS4 exclusive so sorry to anyone with an Xbox or PC only.  I myself will be playing this on my PS4 Pro and snazzy 4K TV!

As a lifelong comic book reader, Spider-Man was always a favorite of mine and millions of other readers.  For obvious reasons really; he was a kid just like most of the people who read.  He wasn't a billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, inventor, or a dude with access to infinite resources.  Your heroes historically had almost always all of the previously stated attributes.  Kind of convenient don't you think?  Peter Parker had very few of those.  While his origins were like almost all comic book heroes, the heart and soul of him are unlike any other.  He's a teenager with a not so great job, a struggling aunt, no parents (that totally never happens in comics), and a tragic death in the family (that also totally never happens) which spurts his ambition to become a hero.  So like I said, a few that always seem to happen apply to Spider-Man.

This is a massive open world game set in the city of New York at 4-6 times the size of their previous open world game "Sunset Overdrive." Peter Parker is 23 years old and has held the mantle of Spider-Man for 8 years now.  He'll face many of opponents, some he's come across in the past as he fights to keep the city he loves safe.

Let me know if you've been looking forward to this as well and if you plan to play or not!  If this is the first time you're hearing of it, I'm curious to know what your thoughts are and if you'll be trying it out!  I'll be posting either here or in a new thread about my personal experience and other reviews.

Marvel's Spider-Man is available everywhere Friday, September 7th.

Check out the Official Game Page here!

The game looks good, but it's not my cup of tea for the type of game I might consider playing...I've played them in the past, PS2, and wasn't that into it.

That said though...I might've bought it if it were released for PC and heavily discounted (Lets say ~£10).

I get that.  The games in the past were the work of studios owned by Activision and Capcom.  This is exciting to me because finally a different studio has taken on the challenge of making a Spider-Man game.  Which if history has taught us anything, they haven't gone that great.  I like Insomiac's approach of an open world game.  The world being New York.

Likely never.  It's a PlayStation exclusive.  Insomniac has done a few of those over the years.

I understand.  I get how PC gamers don't like it, but it swings both ways for some PC exclusives.  Example; Campo Santo's upcoming game "In the Valley of Gods" as far as I'm aware was set to be released for PC, PS4, and maybe Xbox One.  But then the studio was purchased by Valve and now it's a PC exclusive.  Now my friend who has a PS4 and wanted to play, can no longer do so.  Ya dig?

(I'll let him play it on my PC  O:) )

However it is possible they'll do what Valve did with Portal 2 and make it available to consoles later.

@Pink Shed I honestly haven't fully gotten into it yet.  I just came back from a trip so I was working extra hours to pay for it and school.  Plus I live alone.  I have used my PS4 3 times (for gaming anyway) in the past month lol.  I will post my thoughts here when I get around to it though.  I promise.

I literally bought my ps4 for an exclusive, until dawn.
I bought my 3ds for an exclusive, Pokemon x/y
And I bought my ps vita for ffx on the go 😂

I hate my bank account hates exclusivity, I never get around to enjoying the console as I always go back to pc   :/
