Psychometrics

Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement, which includes the measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and personality traits.

Everyday this week I will put your brains to the test and ask you to figure out a set of puzzles.

This event will include riddles, logic puzzles, symbol sequences, geometrical puzzles and number sequences.

I will post at 22:00 game time each day and you will have the whole week to PM me your answers.

Good luck :)

Day 1 - Numerical Ability

Numerical sequences are presented as a series of numbers arranged according to a logical rule. This rule is based on the relationship all numbers have among them, which usually involve performing basic calculation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Once this rule or logical relationship is discovered, you can find out the next number of the sequence. These tests are designed to assess the mathematical aptitude of a person.

Which number comes next?

1, 8, 27, 64, 125, ???

3, 17, 20, 37, 57, ???

1, 10, 18, 25, 31, ???

7, 5, 8, 4, 9, 3, ???

23, 45, 89, 177, ???

3, 8, 23, 68, ???

Hopefully this is an easy one to start you off with :)

Send your answers in PM, you have until Saturday 3rd Nov at 22:00 game time!

Day 2 - Logical Diagrams

The following will test how you visualise objects, solve problems and find solutions through the process of deduction. Complete the below puzzles and test your logical reasoning!

1. Can you complete the final fruit calculation?

2. Find the route to save the washing from the rain! (Draw in Paint and reupload your answer)

3. Which number pyramid is the correct bird's eye view?

4. Which 2 of these images are identical?

5. Which letter cube is made using the below layout?

Send your answers in PM, you have until Saturday 3rd Nov at 22:00 game time!

Day 3 - Geometrical Reasoning

The following will involve the use of critical thinking, logical argument and spatial reasoning to answer. Fine tune your geometrical reasoning to enable you to recognise spatial relationships and aid in problem solving.

1. How many degrees (°) make up angle C?

2. How many triangles can you find in this shape?

3. Which spiral has the greatest area - A, B, C or are they equal?

4. How many squares can you find in this shape?

5. Which heart has the greatest area - A, B, or are they equal?

Send your answers in PM, you have until Saturday 3rd Nov at 22:00 game time!

Day 4 - Riddle Puzzles

Riddles aren't really a common feature of psychometric tests but I thought it would be fun to include them. Have a go at the below and remember the correct answer isn't always your first thought!

1. In a race, what is the position of a driver after he passes the second placed driver?

2. James is standing behind Tom and at the same time Tom is standing behind James. How is this possible?

3. A rat is at the bottom of a 20 metre deep pit. Every day the rat climbs 5 metres upwards, but at night, it slides 4 metres back down. How many days does it take before the rat reaches the top of the pit?

4. The day after tomorrow is the third day after Wednesday. Which day was the day before yesterday?

5. In the middle of a round pool lies a water lily. The water lily doubles in size every day. After exactly 14 days, the lily will cover the complete pool. After how many days will the water lily cover half of the pool?

Send your answers in PM, you have until Saturday 3rd Nov at 22:00 game time!

Day 5 - Inductive Reasoning

Inductive reasoning tests include symbol sequences designed to test your logical problem solving ability. These tests often require participants to compare various attributes of elements, such as the shape or colour, or in terms of size and number. Give the below a go and see if you can spot the correct pattern!

Which symbol comes next in the following sequences?

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.
