Woman Posts Selfie With Dead Friend, Family Is Outraged
« on: January 13, 2017, 21:43:30 »
Death is a really complex thing that everyone handles differently. Some of us throw ourselves into our work to forget our grief, others wallow in said grief until they feel well enough to start to move past it, and still others handle it in a bunch of different ways. One woman handled her fresh grief of losing her best friend to suicide by making a bracelet he could wear to the grave, then taking a selfie with it. That would have been okay had his family not reacted with outrage when the selfie eventually hit Facebook. This actually opens up some interesting questions about how funerals and death are going to be handled in the new millennium. In a world where selfies are everywhere and social media is ubiquitous, is it okay to use social media in this way? In order to figure that out, we need to get to the bottom of this story. Here’s everything you wanted to know about the funeral selfie seen around the world, and the outrage that followed.

Do you think it’s okay to take selfies in private funeral homes?

It's somewhat okay to take a picture with a dead relative in a funeral home if it 'helps' with the grieving process. But do not be a complete and utter dumbass and post that kind of stuff online, not only is it idiotic to do just that, it's completely disrespectful.

It's not something I would choose to do, but I can understand if you want to take a picture in a respectful way. You don't want to insult other people with your actions though

Agreed. There is no reason why it should be online
