Title: Should we be allowed to say "Merry Christmas!" in our own country?
Post by: Cam on December 08, 2011, 17:09:08
Yes that old chestnut.
Do you think political correctness has gone mad when a country which celebrates Christmas are considered impolite by saying Merry Christmas!, due to other ethnicities being offended? It really gets on my nerves. Heck, if they came up to me and said, "Happy Hanukkah" or "Happy Ramadan", I wouldn't be offended. If anything, I'd wish it them back.

They can gtfo our country if they have a problem with it.

I have no problem with them celebrating their own traditions, hence I expect the same respect back.

Political Correctness gone mad.

We arent allowed to have Christmas decorations up at work, in case we offend anyone.  We asked and no one would be offended.

People who make these silly rules, breed contempt, I am sure the vast majority of any other religion would have no problems.

Lets all live in one society, the world is a small place.

Political correctness is trash, and it brings about reverse discrimination as well.

For example, if I went to a store that was playing Christmas music in it they have every right to do so. People shouldn't be able to complain and get them to stop playing it because they are offended...simply don't shop there (this happened with Walmart), and I'm sure other businesses as well.

The point is, you can't make everybody happy because that's not possible, so let's stop pretending we can. Someone can be offended by anything. (e.g. someone at my dad's work once sneezed, my father said "God bless you" and the man replies: "No Thanks, I don't believe in God.")

On a slightly related note...people coming into America, namely spanish-speaking people don't at all make an effort to learn the language, and suddenly everything has to printed in both Spanish and English...you are coming to a country who's national language is english and based on the english language...please learn it. If you moved to France they wouldn't change the roadsigns to English just for your convenience, why should we have to here?
