I had my hands around my mouth in absolute shock - I can't remember the last time I watched something so openly shocking I automatically did that.

We're a disgusting, awful, cruel race of people. I now remember why I hate so many people so much.

The reason the driver didn't stop was because the indemnity would have been greater if the girl had survived. The rest is simply explained by the bystander effect and it is far more common than people may think. :/
