I'm for it, especially for people with long suffering illnesses and diseases. Just imagine have locked-in syndrome and only being able to move your eyes. If I had that I would want to be killed instead of pointless suffering.
Id be interested in knowing why youd not take that option Charles.I believe that every human being has the right to die with dignity, and to leave a person suffering to me is wrong. If you choose to die when you have a terminal illness then I believe you should be given that with lots of counselling and support of course.
I prefer a qualitative life over a quantitative life, and euthanasia should be a fundamental right. Not only do temporary treatments cause prolonged suffering, they are also very costly. If you are against euthanasia, this might change your mind:http://slatestarcodex.com/2013/07/17/who-by-very-slow-decay/
But, personally I don't think it'd be fair for the doctor to make that choice, that should be a decision the patient or family members make. Unless if the patient has no family members and the patient has a condition where they can not speak or be able to give consent.~Sean
Charles: "I wouldn't take that option purely because of the fact that I'm a Christian." Didn't Jesus choose to die on the cross so everyone would not suffer? Isnt that a part in Euthanasia? To prevent suffering, not just of the patient, but of the family and friends. Watching someone die is heart rendering. What would you do if one of your animals was terminally sick? Let them suffer or have them euthanas? As with everyone's comments, I'm not judging your opinion. I'm really interested in your thoughts and how you see things.
