And for UK people - did you vote?

For me personally, I've had to get a passport because I'm going to UK in September for my sister's wedding. Within the EU and Schengen you can travel using a national ID (although airline companies may still require a passport, which more do now because of all the terrorism). However, with all the unceratinty surrounding Brexit, I'd rather not gamble that the national ID will suffice (even though they haven't officially left the EU yet).

That's very trivial of course. On a grand scale, Sweden lost power within the EU since UK were our closest "ally". Our currency dropped a bit as well. I expect that UK will negotiate a free trade agreement, so trade won't be affected negatively.

I've lost $500 a month due to the exchange rate drop. My clients pay me in GBP which I convert to USD. However my clients have agreed to pay the difference until the exchange rate recovers.

The exchange rate has dipped, but it will recover in the long term.

Overall I think the outcome will be better. The EU and the UK have too much trade to not agree a trade agreement, so that will recover the economic impact. The EU value the UK's military security, so there will be some form of agreement there to help protect Europe against external threats.

Red makes a good point though, countries like Sweden relied on the UK to air their voices. They shared common views and with the UK pushing them on the European stage, it allowed Sweden and several other countries to get their objectives completed. Without the UK influence in the EU, there's a risk that certain countries will become isolated and forced into decisions they don't want.

That might result in them voting out of the EU, or at least threatening it. Only under risk of further loss to the EU will the likes of Germany and France consider the views of smaller states now as they've long desired closer union.

I think Brexit was the worse thing that has happened to the UK, how long is "Long term"?

We have already had billions wiped off of our economy and our credit rating down graded.

I am still waiting for a positive to come out of it.

I personally feel brexit was stupid. But then look at how the votes turned out. The majority of Scotland (where I am), N. Ireland and London voted to remain, only to be out-voted by the rest of england. As it stands, the scottish government is looking at a second indepence referendum (which won't result in a yes vote this time either), and if they get that, try to get scotland back into the EU.

As a whole, it hasn't actually affected me, but then as already stated, we haven't left yet. Sure it made some things slightly more expensive buying from america since the global currency is the USD, but then at the same time I sell stuff to america as well so made the difference back when exchanging. The exchange is slowly balancing back to normal again but until the british government actually make some headway on things they promised, i'm not holding my breath for anything.

Doesn't affect me much as far as I am concerned.

Although with the exchange rates, technically I am making more here in Hong Kong

Thank you all - you gave me a lot to look into.  When you read news, you rarely get how it actually impacts people.  I am really sorry for the people it is hurting but hopefully a positive change will happen.  Rilkurius, keep us posted on how it goes for Scotland, please?
