The political correctness and women's rights movement is very strong in Sweden. If you oppose the mainstream media opininon (which usually is strongly left-wing and in my opinion, borderline extremist), you will get a lot of hate. There is a lot of social stigma around it.
For example, Sweden has the most generous refugee policy in Europe and it's hurting our country in many ways. If you hint this, no matter how constructive the criticism is, you will be labeled a racist. If you think that men and women should have the right to choose, as a couple between themselves, which parent and to what degree should stay at home with the newborn, you're a misogynist or a supporter of the patriarchy.
This is the reason why feminism has got a negative connotation (at least here in Sweden) and why I would hesitate to call myself a feminist, even though I would always support gender equality.
