I don't buy spins so I don't really care about people buying bonus xp, people spend money on stupider things all the time. Because of this the sense of achievement is still there for me, but I'm almost never impressed by another person's xp or levels because I automatically assume that they bought a lot of bonus xp.

Personally I'm not a fan of it :L I think it's cheap and degrades the accomplishments of others, but not going to rag on people who do it, because it's [a big] part of the game now ;-;

I only bought 100 spins once upon a time just when SoF came out, haven't bought any since. Nowadays I don't care about ranks, I just play for fun now. Buying xp and skill outfits surely devalued most skills, which is why I stopped caring about ranks. *cough silverhawks to 120 agi*

You play the game, why do you honestly care that someone else decides to spend either a lot of irl money, or a lot of ingame money on spins?
Because to a large extent, it directly pollutes the gameplay of honest players when they are bombarded with XP promotions and XP-oriented (rather than gameplay-oriented) updates. Like everything else in life, there is a tradeoff. People who play the game for the intended purpose (fun) are denied this simple and basic need because the game is now catered towards players who obsess over XP and "efficiency".

It is natural for humans to attach their negative feelings towards someone or something else - in the case of people who buy XP, their actions directly support the poor no-XP-waste mentality that has dramatically damaged the game for simple players. Thus, I think it is justified that some think poorly of people who buy spins. When I see people who support the theft of RuneScape's simple charms and quirks, it bothers me.

I suppose it depends if you view yourself as being legit in terms of gaining a skill, or if you just want a skill as easy as possible. I've always played the game legitimately and I never intend to buy gp. It takes the whole point of long hours and determination away from the game. I think it makes it less of an achievement.

However as a skiller I suppose it is slightly harder to gain money.

It's just the same as me training in the gym against people who train using steroids.. Unfortunately it's part and package of the process now :(

It's funny because I thought playing OSRS eliminates this and it does to an extent but you still find the people rich in game or IRL can buy bonds to exchange for money then swap to 07.

With bonds coming to Old School in March it'll be much simpler and much more common

I know it's other people's money and I shouldn't really care what they do with it, but because I liked competing for ranks in the past for things, it really demotivates me to really go all try hard like I used to, and on top of which, I feel like these people's "achievements" literally mean nothing. But who am I, right?

The game and hiscores are diluted with xp buyers so ranks hardly mean anything anymore. Just play for fun instead of ranks and you'd be much happier tbh. It is a game after all

Find it ridiculous people would buy a bunch of exp tbh. Where's the fun in that? I wish they'd make squeal filled with cosmetics only, or emotes or whatever. But Jagex is a business, so... :s

This is why osrs is so much better, sure bonds are coming and people will be able to buy in-game cash to wipe out the buyables but you still have to grind the nonbuyables, and lets face it there has always been players buying ingame cash there is just an official way now.
And has I said you'll still need to grind many skills on osrs, you can't buy mining or fishing or hunter etc.
