Mining/Smithing Rework - OP or much needed?
« on: January 08, 2019, 02:16:37 »
I'm really enjoying it so far but I know a lot of people place high value on the difficulty of certain skills lending themselves to their value.

The metal bank is totally game-changing for me, I used to trudge angrily every time I had to make more steel bars for my POH, but now I can do it without running back and forth from the bank with fewer inventory spaces for other building materials! :3 I'm also excited to now have the smithing level requirement to put rune armor in my house without having to do anything.~ And non-depleting ores, that'll make the AFK-ers cry happy tears.

I haven't tried any of the higher-tier ores, has anyone tried those, or upgrading existing metalwork?

i do like the update ,but feel a couple of tweaks are in order .we need access to the metal bank from main bank and possibly a deposit box by the furnace for an easier deposit of materials.i can see mining becoming my next 120 skill ,and possibly even my next 200m

I haven't really had the chance to play it yet.

What is it that's supposed to be OP? Thr experience or money?

I've only read the patch notes and I think it looks pretty good and balanced, but I have no idea what the actual content is like. I don't understand why high tier smithable pickaxes aren't augmentable though. It makes no sense to me that I can have my dragon pickaxe augmented (tier 60), but not the higher tiers (except the quest locked one).

I'm enjoying it so far, and my ironman will enjoy it even more!
The thought of not having to go back and forth a ton of times to make mithril or addy bars thanks to the ore bank and the removal(?) of coal is a true blessing.

I keep seeing people on about earth and song pick. Is this the best one in game now? And is it augmentable?

Agreed that we need metal box access from the main bank.

OP I guess because it totally removes the need to bank? If you buy your ores beforehand it's like bankstanding for herblore etc, you won't need to move at all, super AFK-able.

Coal was removed only for adamant and rune, it's still used for the tiers below that. Adamant and rune use a secondary called luminite, and each tier above that has its own secondary. I'm on orikalcum (sp?) and the secondary is called drakolith, both are available in the Mining Guild resource dungeon.

I like seeing how busy the dwarven workshop in Fally is these days. :)

I didn't have high hopes for the rework ngl. However, from what i have tried (99% mining) I like it so far. The gp is a massive help however the prices will soon stabilise which is also good. One thing that does really piss me off is how the best augmentable for skillers is still the d pic. For example, i have to sacrifice training invention through mining so my mining xp rates aren't total ass.
