« on: October 06, 2015, 17:08:39 »
Howdy and welcome to this month in Updates!

What is "This month in Updates"?
This month in Updates is basically a brief history of updates that appeared in October. Ranging from the current game, all the way towards the beginning of Runescape!

23rd October 2002 - Updates Galore!
This year, the quests Biohazard and Jungle Potion will turn 13 years old! As well as these a few more updates were also added.

There were new member spells which included the following spells: Enfeeble, stun and vulnerability. The soul rune were also released and were purchasable from rune stores.

There were new features for Dragon bones too - Dragon bones can now be buried for a bigger prayer xp bonus than big bones

New members town - Yanille - Released with Yanille, was also the Mage's guild, which required a magic level of 66!

4th October 2005 - Tzhaar Fight Caves

With the influx of humans into their city, and especially to the Fight Pit, the TzHaar have opened up another area to visitors. Can you survive the beasts that dwell in the dark of the TzHaar Fight Cave?

• 1 new enchant spell
• 1 new gem, Onyx
• 2 new capes
• 3 new jewellery items
• 4 new monster types
• A new minigame, the TzHaar Fight Cave.

Starting at level 67 Crafting players will be able to make Onyx rings, necklaces, and amulets with these gems. Onyx rings and amulets can also be enchanted using the new Enchant spell at level 87 Magic.

17th October 2005 - Mourning's Ends Pt II
Turning 10 years old this year, will be the quest 'Mourning's Ends Part II !

This chapter of the quest takes our hero deep under the mountains of Arandar to put a stop to the evil plans of the mourners.
If our hero is to succeed, they must solve one of the most complicated puzzles in all of Gielinor.

31st October 2005 - Halloween Update!!
-The Lumbridge swamps are definitely not for the faint hearted this time of year. The Halloween zombies are around, and not only are they terrifying enough to unlock the new Scared emote, but you can collect your very own zombie head to talk to (if you can catch it), as a spooooky halloween souvenir.

-Dust off those old bits of costume and head over to Lumbridge where the local kids are trick or treating!! Sadly the kids aren’t too scared of adventurers since they see quite a few everyday... Perhaps the zombies in the swamps can lend you a helping hand? (or head!)

24 October 2005. - Mogres, Lizards, Pet Fish, Potions and Potatoes!

Skippy and the Mogres
A new resident in the Rimmington area can now be found hurling bottles and insults out into the ocean. Skippy was once a fisherman, but now he enjoys nothing more than a hard day's ranting about the huge, evil monsters that shattered his sanity. Players who manage to wring some truth from his deluded rantings may unlock the secret of the new slayer monster, the Mogre.

Fishbowls and Pet fish
Players that enjoy talking to fish more than eating them will be quite happy with the new update to the glassblowing section of crafting. Fishbowls are now available and waiting to be filled from the Aquarium in Catherby.

Herblore Addition - Saradomin Brew
The herblore skill has been expanded by one new potion - the Saradomin Brew. Requires herblore level 81 Ingredients: Toadflax herb, crushed bird's nest (Grind an empty bird's nest with a pestle and mortar to create this ingredient.) Effects: It gives a big boost to hitpoints and defence. It gives a small reduction to attack, strength, magic and ranged.

Another slayer monster - Desert lizards
Further south in the desert, there are rumours of large vicious lizards attacking travellers, and the Slayer masters are now offering adventurers a chance to slay them for fun and profit. These large lizards love the heat of the desert, and so the Slayer shops have stocked up on boxes of cold ice that can shock weakened lizards into expiring.

18 October 2006 - Capes of Achievement... and Goats!
Released back in 2006 were the Cape of Achievements, this gave players who had a level 99 in a skill to show off these amazing new capes! Each cape also came with its own unique emote to that skill. Each cape comes with a matching hood, and if you've mastered more than one skill, a trimmed model will highlight your talent.
An untrimmed skillcape trimming itself

This week also sees the release of a tough, new breed of animals. Herds of Desert Goats can now be found wandering around the Kharidian - um - Desert. Now there's a surprise!

Explorers who go hunting for these bleating beasts will find that they can collect goat horns, which, when powdered and mixed with Harralander, can make a new Combat potion. This magical elixir combines the properties of a basic Attack Potion and Strength potion, so it's a handy addition to your inventory when heading into difficult combat situations.

16th October 2007 - LootShare
This week we have added an extra feature to the Clan Chat system: LootShare! By switching this option on, all monster drops and rewards will be fairly shared between the clan members fighting with you. LootShare even remembers if you were unlucky enough to receive nothing in a battle, increasing your chance of being lucky next time!

The Clan Chat owner can set the minimum rank for anyone wishing to LootShare in a multiway combat area.

After two minutes, LootShare will become activated and you will be included in the sharing of the monster drops. As long as you are within 16 squares of the defeated creature, you will be considered for LootShare!

7th October 2009 - High-level Herblore Potions
High-level herbalists will find a variety of new, untradeable potions at their disposal.

These potions aren't just limited to stat boosts either. Have you ever wanted to take your godsword on dragon-slaying trips? Now's your chance, with the super antifire potion. Are you approaching near mastery of the Herblore skill? If so, there’s a potion that may just ‘overload’ your entire body (at level 96) – dare you drink it?

12 October 2010 – Charm Sprite Hunting
If you’re a practised hunter with a passion for Summoning, you’ll be able to turn your skills to good use and bag some handy rewards in the process, with this new Hunter skill update.
The more charm sprites you manage to capture, the more Summoning charms you’ll earn.

25 October 2011– Bot-Nuking Day: Making RuneScape Fairer and More Fun!
To celebrate Bot-Nuking Day[ClusterFlutterer] - the biggest bot-busting initiative in RuneScape history - we are running a series of bonus events this week which will be fairer and more fun for everyone. As well as the bot-busting update we will introduce a brace of brand-new reporting functions.

Launch and Impact
On the day of release, ClusterFlutterer effectively and immediately destroyed all reflection and injection bots, which constituted approximately 98% of the bots in the game. At RuneFest 2011, Mark Gerhard (the CEO of Jagex) said to the players that since its release, ClusterFlutterer had banned around 7.7 million accounts that were used for botting, and that by October 30th, another 4-5 million accounts would be banned.

9 October 2012 – King Black Dragon & Dungeon Rework
It's been ten years since the King Black Dragon ate his first adventurer, and although Gielinor is a bigger, more dangerous place than ever, he's still ranked among RuneScape's most lethal monsters. With this in mind, we're proud to herald the return of the king, with an awe-inspiring new look and graphically reworked lair!

• Use the artefact behind Edgeville Monastery to teleport there instantly.
• Alternatively, enter via the Lava Maze in the Wilderness. Doing so earns you a 10% bonus to your damage output against the King Black Dragon for the duration of your visit.

Dungeon Updates (Members Only)
Along with the King Black Dragon's Lair, four more dungeons have been updated. Battle your way through the following dens of villainy and drink in their breathtaking new graphics and sound:

• Brimhaven Dungeon
• Chaos Tunnels
• Fremennik Slayer Dungeon
• Taverley Dungeon

22 October 2013 - Sirenic Armour
This level 90 power-type armour is the very best gear you can wear for pumping out projectiles. Made by high-level crafters using drops from powerful monsters, it also means money-making prospects for skillers and slayers. Doesn't hurt that it looks amazing, too!

Requirements;
• You must be a RuneScape member.

To wear:
• Level 90 Defence

To craft:
• 91 Crafting (mask)
• 92 Crafting (chaps)
• 93 Crafting (hauberk)

So, what did you think of This Month in Updates? Did you learn anything that you previously didn't know, such as when Yanille was released and how many quests have been released in October?!

As always, feedback is highly appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to read this thread.

These are updates I would have loved to had add to the list, but don't have the time to do so :(
