Beware of Imposter Scam!
« on: September 10, 2016, 20:15:22 »
EVERYONE BEWARE OF THIS SCAM! ALMOST FELT FOR IT!

- Only Lilly imposter, or other staff members will message you and try to get money for flipping.

- Don't give them money, report, and ignore!

^^ NOT THE REAL LILLY!!!!

Image isn't loading.

But yes, it's a known issue and isn't just limited to Consentus. There's a warning on the front page of the forums, never give anything to staff who wants a bond to get their alt membership or to make an investment.

Thanks for the warning ^^

They're using the names of other staff members too, mine included :( Lots of clans are experiencing this problem. I wish Jagex would just change the font. Or at least perm ban the accounts + their owners when reported.

I've had an imposter of me doing it too. It's so frustrating.

Unbelievable this is still going on - it has to be someone familiar with the clan - is there anyway Jagex would help with this?

No, this is their response to the problem:
"Font changes are extremely complicated and required massive amounts of testing - we have flagged the issue with the engine team, as well as player support and both teams are looking at the best way to resolve the scamming issue."

But the accounts never seem to even get banned

I think it would help to have an icon beside the people who are in your clan that PM you. So if I don't have Redtunnel added to my friends list, but he PMs me, it has a small icon or appears in a different colour or with (Clan) at the start or something. These scam accounts are targetting clans, imitating clan members and then PM their clanmates. So if people could distinguish them somehow it would help a lot.
