Rs3 Vs OSRS Player base
« on: August 27, 2017, 09:56:50 »

A graph has been published outlining the player base from OSRS vs Rs3, as you can see it seems OSRS player base has now succeeded that of RS3 - opinions?

Obv the graph does not account into consideration the amount of f2p vs paying members and the number of bots.

I assume Runescape Remastered will be announced at Runefest; will be interesting to see what happens when that has been announced.

I've heard rumours that it is Rs3 but with all the bad things removed, ie. tick system, squared pathway, exp climb has been altered to reflect more of elite skills.

Wait and see.

If Jagex continues to release unplayable broken content, half added batches and unbalanced items (HSR), then the game is just going to die.

People are getting pissed off with the lack of quality updates we've had for nearly a year now. Every week there's a new TH event, they're ramming this shit down out throats.
× Menaphos, although I liked menaphos, loads didn't - especially because of the rep grind.
× Shattered worlds on release was basically broken. Unfair anima rate and expensive recharge for sigils.
× 120 slayer was a lacklustre.
× HSR being unobtainable for months.
× Lotd still broken at GWD2
× Fayre event was just unbalanced for the first week or two.
× Mining and Smithing is a fucking joke.
× Batch two hasn't even been released. It has been nearly two years, yes I know they're working on it NOW.

If the game continues to go in this direction, I'll probably just quit.

I seriously hope not, dividing the Rs3 community further would probably be the killing blow for Rs3  :/

Have they extended the Ninja team to mend broken parts of the game?

Jagex posts second consecutive record financial year with revenues up 28% to £74.4 million

Cambridge-based developer Jagex has posted its second consecutive year of record revenues thanks to its continued efforts on its RuneScape franchise.

The company posted revenues of £74.4 million, up 28% year-on-year from its previous record year. It had generated £57.9 million in 2015.

Profits also increased to £28.8 million after tax, an increase of 21.5% year-on-year. Jagex did not break out any other specific numbers regarding its finances.

"2016 saw RuneScape celebrate its 15th anniversary and we placed a razor focus on evolving and growing both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape," said acting CEO Phil Mansell.

"Through investment in big ticket content, technology, marketing and strengthening the relationship we enjoy with millions of players that form our deeply-engaged community, the team delivered landmark performance by growing active users, conversion rates and subscribers."

The developer is also rebranding as part of its acquisition by Zhongji Holding, now known as Fukong Interactive Entertainment, in September 2016.

Mansell took over as acting CEO due to the departure of Ron Cousens in January 2017. Cousens did not provide a reason for his leaving at the time.

Jagex dipped into the mobile space last year with the release of Hyper Hippo's RuneScape: Idle Adventures, which was also on PC, though it was not specifically called out in the press release on the company's financials.

If they're making so much money, why the hell can't they outsource some developers to fix the damn broken game and its content?!

Treasure hunter is an odd thing really; it's saved the game in the sense it's where the majority of their revenue comes from but it's absolutely changed/speed up the dynamics of what the game is.
