Right now, /R/RuneScape Reddit is on fire as the majority of the top posts are posts complaining about this years Halloween Events and MTX. So I'm here to ask you all, what are your views on this years Halloween rewards and in-game content?
The following is my opinion - Halloween Event 2016:The actual Halloween event itself was pretty good - Although not as good as it was back in
2014 and the years before that. This years event was far better and way less grindy than the 2015 H'ween event too. Aesthetically the event looked quite good, considering they don't get as much time to work on these updates as the MTX teams.
Walk like a ZombieThe Walk like a Zombie clue hunt/event is by far the biggest joke of this years Halloween theme. It appears to be uncompletable for skillers without the need to purchase keys as there's a ton of high-level content and combat related content involved.
With that being said, it also seems incompletable for those who have all of the requirements too.
This post states that you would need to do the following tasks in order to complete the event.
- Mine 1,300 Daeyalt Ore - Bare in mind you can only mine three at a time.
- Find and catch 25 Zombie Implings - These are fairly uncommon
- Deposit 250 Manifest Shadow Cores at Prifddinas Rift - These are a 1/10 drop, so you'd be expected to kill 2,500 of these creatures.
These are just a few-slim pickings, but they're really silly requirements and in a way, unobtainable as hundreds of players may be interested in doing this event.
Solomons Store MTX Cosmetic RewardThe only thing that I hate about this, is that the male character outfit looks like a complete joke compared to the females. I do not care nor mind that people who purchase Solomons Currency are entitled to a reward.

The following is a reply from Mod Balance;Thanks for your feedback. I can tell you (and loads of other people) feel very strongly about this, but I wanted to address some of your points as I actually don't think this is all entirely fair.
Firstly - let me be absolutely clear: Without microtransactions, we wouldn't be able to invest as much in RuneScape's development and infrastructure. It's a key part of the game, but we are receptive to feedback on it (hence the changes to Elite Skilling Outfits etc).
One of the key bits of feedback we see time and time again from you guys is "We prefer it when Treasure Hunter monetises cosmetics" - so with this promotion, we focussed on cool cosmetic items. They're available via the Treasure Hunter promotion, or if you prefer you can earn them by spending your time working towards them.
I must stress - it's absolutely possible to earn everything on the promotion without buying extra keys. It's not the most efficient way to spend your time - I'll give you that - but it is an option if the cosmetic rewards mean that much to you! Note that these outfits don't give you any significant in-game benefits/boosts (other than looking cool).
If you're really interested in earning it all - Zrik will give you 2 Brain Stickers so you can skip the tasks you like the least, and you can speed up your progress through the tasks (a Wolpertinger familiar will boost your Poison Ivy gathering, and the Morytania legs will speed up your ability to gather the fungus).
